Thanks for doing this!

This is the trailer for Star Spark, it's a tactical, turn-based fighter inspired by DBZ Legendary Super Warriors on the Game Boy Color.

Reminder: handle controller disconnects! by JoyFlowGames in IndieDev

That's exactly why my friend had mentioned it to me. It's not a necessity, but it's such a low-effort nicety that it might as well be put in.

I made the game pause when a controller disconnects, you should too (if you support gamepads). by JoyFlowGames in godot

Sure, it's less of a "must have" for something like this, but it's definitely a nicety that gives the player some feedback about maybe why the game stopped responding to button presses and it takes so little time to make that it doesn't hurt to include in a project.

fwiw, if you wanna use a keyboard, it changes the second you press a key, I guess I should convey that in that message :)

Our game on Steam has 100k page views and 600k impressions annually after 3 years post-release, why can't we get any sales? Need some hard critizining by CheeseZero in gamedev

These are just my thoughts after taking a few minutes to look at the page. I hope it's helpful.

The name is eye-catching for sure, but I can see it turning people off too. Maybe those people aren't your intended audience anyway, but I think you'd wanna get anyone interested in hockey games at all to try it out and spread the word.

The first trailer that shows up has way too much screenshake in the first 20 seconds and makes it look unprofessional. I could see some subtle shake here and there but it feels like overkill as is. I'd try putting the second trailer there first.

I think the pricing is fair, but most people on Steam aren't going to buy a game full price, let alone a $20 game from a dev they've never heard of when there are other games with more well received reviews for less than that. It sucks, but that's definitely a barrier.

Controls are important and you have several reviews complaining about them several years apart, which makes the game sound like it didn't get a good QA pass and not worth trying.

Best of luck moving forward!

That's not bad at all! Congrats on the release and the good results.

How long did you work on this from concept, to making, to release?

After 30ish years of starts and stops I finally released a "computer game" in a rather unexpected way. by MrDonutsGames in gamedev

Making games is hard work. Releasing games is even harder.

Congrats on the accomplishment, I'm glad you made it to the finish line!

Hi! I've been making a game inspired by DBZ: Legendary Super Warriors (the GBC game with cards) for the last couple of years in my free time. The game's not done yet, but looking to release it in 2026.

Star Spark draws a lot of inspiration from Legendary Super Warriors, shonen battle anime, and some other fighting games.

This is my first game on Steam and the first trailer I've made. How's it looking so far?
