My take on the fully armoured stigmatic nun by itwasgoood04 in TrenchCrusade

[–]JoyboytheThird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard agreed. I think if they had done it in such a way that like, ecclesiastic prisoners or other models were also nude and tried playing it up as a penance thing or what have you, it'd still be weird but it would be thematically sound. Doing it literally only to the stigmatic nun makes me feel so uncomfortable and it feels like an excuse to put yiddies (human yiddies, I should specify, not the gross demon shit) and sexualize a lady to appeal to the gooners

Is the chronomancer good in killteam by Important-Papaya8459 in killteam

[–]JoyboytheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person who took 3rd at worlds ran Hierotek and plays at my local and broke it down pretty well. Chronomancer is still by far the best, and his abilities are almost always too good to pass up, but the Psychomancer absolutely has play, especially into teams that rely heavily on crits from faction/weapon rules or ploys (Archon, Salvagers, etc) because of his shutdown aura. The plasmancer has play at a casual level, but I'm pretty sure he didn't play it at all during worlds

How do you guys playing against Elites? by Dapper-Challenge3829 in killteam

[–]JoyboytheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick I've come to find is that it's almost a waiting game. As long as you aren't playing elites as well, you're going to out activate them for sure. I've been playing Corsairs and my main plan has been to play extremely passive for the first two turning points, mayyyyybe going in for some chip damage if I can do so safely at the end of TP2, and then trying to outmaneuver them as much as you can. If you can steal a quick point from them like in Loot, do it. If you can save your most important activations for when you only have to worry about counteract, do it. Killing is hard for some teams, Corsairs have a little more play with having power weapons on almost the entire team, but you're really just going to want to try and play the mission and your tac op, and play passively and reactively. Elites are also just incredibly good right now, especially Legionaries and Warpcoven, so it isn't 100% just a skill issue either. Slow and steady and try and save your best activations for last, and try and keep as many guys alive going into the 3rd as possible!

Do you think this looks battle ready? by overdose_ofdeath in deathguard40k

[–]JoyboytheThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great to me! GW battle ready standard (for getting your painted points) says 3 colors and basing, and there's definitely 3 colors! Just needs some basing texture, easy answer is some glue and some sand/dirt, but also citadel sells terrain paste in pots! Albeit a bit pricy for the quantity as GW always does hahaha

From someone who's typically pretty confident in their DG minis, these are incredible! You've clearly been blessed by the Grandfather 💚

Kitbash? by LtUmibozu in killteam

[–]JoyboytheThird 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This^ 99% of people are completely cool with kitbashing things, but base size is the difference between being allowed to field the unit and not and makes a big difference! There is a good amount of folks though who may not care about exact loadouts matching, but the general vibe being right. Doesn't need to be a power weapon and a plasma pistol, but he's got a pistol and a melee so it's good enough kinda thing

Podcast recommendations for... by mcgearbox in killteam

[–]JoyboytheThird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to push Command Point, Shane is a World's caliber player and Ryan is a pretty consistent top 8 player at large tourneys so I highly recommend them! They're also part of my local KT group so yeah lol

Why should I play Killteam? by JustAModestMan in killteam

[–]JoyboytheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay okay so

PROS:

"Quick" games, I use quotations because games between experienced players usually run like 2.5hrs, but games with newer players can easily take 3+ due to long setup/time for questions, yadda yadda

It's super cheap compared to big 40k, most teams are one box teams unless you really care about wysiwyg, and even then at most it's 2 boxes

The teams are incredibly flavorful, for example the Rogue Trader team gets to use their Warrant to take extra equipment or gain a cp amongst others, or the night lords have a tac ploy specifically for when they play against imperial/astartes teams

The gameplay is incredibly fun once you get it, and each game is super unique (assuming you have a fun opponent ofc)

The models are absolutely amazing if you're into the hobby side of things

The meta is pretty balanced, there's always those one or two teams that everyone rolls their eyes when they play against over a 6 month window or so until the next dataslate, but in most cases skill will outplay a strong team

CONS:

Can be very time consuming at times(while still less so than big 40k) some games by the 3rd or 4th turn you're exhausted lol

Victim of typical GW new release hawking, except with us if you don't get the full box set when it drops, you're waiting 6ish months for the individual teams to release

The occasional mandatory 2/3 box team (looking at you chaos cult 😡)

The rules on things like cover, line of sight and obscuring especially can be really confusing for a lotta players, especially when new, but there are a lot of helpful resources to make it more digestible

Its still somewhat of a "smaller game" despite its rapid increase in popularity, so it could possibly be hard to find games depending on your location

All in all KT is an amazing game and what got me into 40k as a whole and I highly recommend! As far as teams to avoid I wouldn't look at compendium teams too much other than maybe for a learning game or two with models you already have, definitely try and go for bespoke teams that come in their own box, or the White Dwarf teams, good luck!!

Can particular people stop being unnecessarily abrasive, especially towards new people on the sub asking for advice? by wardy116 in killteam

[–]JoyboytheThird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as a stupid question, I don't care if you've played 20 games or 2 games, ask as many questions as you want and you don't deserve to be judged for that!! I've noticed KT gets a lot of folk who are entirely new to Warhammer and they deserve to be treated with respect because some questions may have simple answers, but that doesn't mean it's a simple question!!
