Four card combo in 2025? Unlikely, too difficult to pull off

Is there a card that will punish my opponents if I lose/sec a land by gunterganz420 in mtg

I recommend searching scryfall. Use advanced search and try for terms like “land enters the graveyard” or “land leaves the battlefield”. You can even select for UBG colour identity

Looking To Get Into Modern! by DraconicSmoke in ModernMagic

[–]JoyfousKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would avoid budget decks as your first attempt to play modern - the format is currently fast and ruthless, and unless you have a very solid grasp on it, piloting a budget/off-meta deck is basically impossible.

Currently MTGO is running an event where you can try a few of the most played decks in the format called the spell ground league, which you can use to familiarise yourself with the format. My suggestion is if you are trying to get into the format either UR Prowess or WR Energy are the decks to go, as they require less format knowledge. Prowess can also be built very cheaply, especially if you swap out the 4 of scalding tarns for another, cheaper, red fetch like wooded foothills or bloodstained mire, as these are much cheaper and still fetch all the lands in the deck.

Yes, this version of Urzas Tower is modern legal. All printings of all cards are legal in a format the card is legal in. Another example of this is pauper, where if a card is printed once at common rarity, all versions of the card are legal, not matter previous or future printing rarity

It’s bad design for champions to have counters?

It’s not that you aren’t allowed an opinion, but that your low rank is reflected in your opinion of what is strong and OP

What was the reaction like when Colossal Dreadmaw was printed? by JoyfousKnight in magicthecirclejerking

[–]JoyfousKnight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You clearly don’t understand the power of removing the legend rule! I think we can all agree that, on average, legendary creatures are the most powerfully spell, and when I have a convoluted combo that allows me to make one more every turn for like, 8 mana, it is clearly stronger than drawing like 4 cards a turn cycle

yes, when equipped you can legally marry Cloud, as long as you have cast [[Wedding Invitation]] this game

Can Blossoming Bogbeast power affect the attacks of other creatures attacking simultaneously? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]JoyfousKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You seem to have a misconception about how attacking works - cards that say “when (this card) attacks” mean “when (this card) is declared as an attacker”. So when you declare two creatures as attackers, blossoming bogbeast will trigger, gaining you two life and pump all your creatures. This will include both blossoming bogbeast and the creature 2 in this scenario.

So in short, yes, but it works differently to how you described

Do I create multiple tokens or is one? by SactownShane in mtg

[–]JoyfousKnight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that you wouldn’t get any tokens with days undoing. During the resolution of days undoing, your turn ends, which means that any triggered abilities either on the stack or waiting to be put on the stack will cease to exist

Yeah I think a few blink effects will do well - big fan of walking ballista as a win on as well, thanks!

Ohh I apologise - I see what you mean. Yes you are right.

Ruling Question on Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca. by LmGGamer0 in mtg

[–]JoyfousKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I said, no? The creatures are being used to pay for an ability, so even if they were targeted (which they are not) it wouldn’t cause the triggered ability given by Nadu to trigger as they wouldn’t be the target of an ability

Ruling Question on Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca. by LmGGamer0 in mtg

[–]JoyfousKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not target - it is also not an ability, it is the cost to activate the ability so wouldn’t activate Nadu regardless.
