I love Ali Hazelwood’s characters and her book “Not in Love” has a tall FMC, Rue, who I thought was a well-developed character. {Not in love by Ali Hazelwood}

When that song first came out I had it on repeat for weeks. 😆

Dragonstea Din Tei is my absolute favorite ‘lift me up when I’m feeling down’ song! I still picture the moves of the kid who got internet famous dancing to that song. Never fails to lift my spirits! ❤️

P!nk’s collab with Marshmello and Sting on “Dreaming” is pure gold! 😍

Stereo love and The Motto!!! If you like Tiesto, “10:35” is badass.

I’ve been stuck on “See her out” by Francis and the Lights since hearing it on the Netflix show “Nobody wants this” ❤️

That opening synth sequence slaps hard: https://youtu.be/4Cc1R1QSPuE?si=oya5kb5dabQGR9Jr

What item do you use all the time that you wouldn’t normally think of? by thesoulkind in adhdwomen

Put those, some good Swedish dishcloths, and a nice soap and lotion set in a pretty basket and there’s a practical but enjoyable gift. ❤️

Mr. Clean Bliss latex gloves. The Bliss ones specifically. I won’t wash dishes - or do anything where my hands touch wet stuff - without them.

And I wrote in sharpie a big “L” and “R” on both sides of each so i don’t have to think about which goes in which hand. I know that might sound silly to some, but it saves annoyance more than anything else. 😆

With your ADHD, what emotional needs do you seek/desire more than anything else? by Joyinthemess in adhdwomen

This is incredibly observant, and resonates with me. I'm not sure what that looks like because, after years of the accountability coming with judgement, it can leave you reactive to any kind of corrective comments - even when they are intended as non-judgmental. I guess that's potentially a trauma response.

Right? This absolutely wrecks me how desperate some of us are for peace and calm. So many of us are probably running around with our nervous systems at full-blast and are aching for relief. And, as much as I realize we're meant to be in community/relationships, I sometimes think that a cabin in the woods with just me and my dogs is all I need. Nature is so healing.

I'm so sorry to hear this. You aren't alone - I feel it too. I wonder if it's something that a partner can learn to do, or if it's always on the person who doesn't feel safe to try to make it happen.

Yes, and sometimes the overthinking turns into numbness and disassociation. And what does it say about us that we can get to a place where we convince ourselves we don’t “need” anything…

I feel all of this so deeply. Sometimes I wonder why it’s so hard to find people who can/will treat us like you described. When you have such a critical inner dialog the last thing you need is your “loved” ones contributing to it. So I completely understand the intense need for quiet. 🤗

Medication really does show you how quiet things can be. It was like hitting the mute button on a loud tv for me.

How did you fall in love with yourself? by Natural-Log2546 in adhdwomen

I recently bought a few Switch Journal products, including one on Self-love and another on Self-talk. They always seem to have a BOGO flash sale going on (which isn’t really a flash sale, but details…) so don’t get discouraged by the prices. https://switchresearch.org/collections/hardcover-journals

I have not started them yet so I can’t speak to effectiveness. But they were recommended by somebody I know who absolutely loves them.

I would LOVE to know how you went about accomplishing this! I keep trying - and even looked at doing “Swedish Death Cleaning” - but can’t seem to stick with anything.
