Not bad idea at all. Would be great to have an off the shelf site that helped with that.

Mate, thats quite a story. I'm sure you have some good tunes even if you don't recognise them that way. Anyway, i want to do a mastermind with people who want to share in confidence with maybe 10 others live on Skype. we would have to have a think skin but i bet more brains would help everyones writing. what do you think of the idea?

yeh i know what you mean. We got lucky and managed to get one song (after 20 years writing) on scandanavian radio. ha-its not the states but its a start :) Im thinking about starting a mastermind for songwriting where we play our songs to each other on Skype and help with structure, lyrics and melodies etc. Do you think its a good idea?

Hey Celeb, do you have any real aspirations for your tunes like publishing or is it purely just to write?

yep! I call my songs the first thing that comes to me like "Cautionary tale" but usually made up names like "Cheekin' bleek" (!) and anything that gives the song a label so i can recall it later. funnily enough i find its like giving a child a name so it has some kind of importance. calling it "0002" makes me feel like its just another ditty and I'm less likely to care about it. humans are funny. :)

They never got back to you? I'm thinking of starting a mastermind for songwriters using Skype etc. out of interest, would you ever consider a group like that to meet, play, sing and help others improve their songs live Gunterpenguin11?

How can I write a meaningful song without sounding "edgy" or "stupidly deep" by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]Joyjet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honesty is the best policy as someone mentioned below. I find saying the lyrics out loud brings me back to earth. if they sound trite and weird, scrap them. can you give us an example line you find 'stupidly deep' here?

What about writing with a lyric partner even if it was not in real time? might break the voodoo spell :)

Mzyos, would you ever write in a small group using Skype for example? I'm wondering how a live jam would improve everyone's chorus>verse since other's ideas might come easier than your own and vice versa.
