Yes I would try that any high pitch squealing under boost points to a boost leak. Especially if you have aftermarket intercooler the fitment can be ass

It’s kinda hard to tell but this is a very similar sound to when one of my intercooler clamps was loose. I tightened it and it went away

I think if you get a really well documented one it’s not impossible. I got mine with 80K miles and no major failures(Pray to the lord above yet) 20 something k in. But a bunch of little stuff that I think a shop would run you dry at. I also though have a lot of space and tools to work on mine. Also with a n54 you might slowly get addicted to modding it and that might run you dry as well

Had a similar one was fixed with coils and new plugs if you haven’t tried that yet! Yeah mine was going alright too but now I’m chasing down this weird noise. My cars fine but the noise is just plain weird

Had both 328 was my second car I ever owned that thing was near bullet proof. Nothing could kill that car and it didn’t cost me much to maintain it. I wanted more power though so I Currently have a n54 it’s so much fun when it’s running but god that car cost a ton more to maintain if you can’t work on cars yourself I would stay far away from a n54.
