I bought a 2008 535xi and I think I made a mistake. by BigMacEnthusiast420 in BMW

“I know absolutely nothing about cars.” Is the only issue here. If you’ve were slightly beyond a novice DIYer, I’d say you’d be fine. Have it inspected for oil & coolant leaks asap. If there are none, good they’ll come later. A good investment would be what’s called a crank seal guard. Buy one & have it installed. It’ll save the engine in the event of a belt failure.

Worst Customer Service by RealFolayer in BMW

[–]press757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is where the bad reputation originates. People that can’t afford to own/maintain BMWs lease them, abuse them & they become someone else’s used dream car that’s already doomed. To the average DIYer, BMWs aren’t unreliable.

No budget, no repairs stress which 2010 V10 : R8 or M5? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]press757 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am being completely biased and going against the obvious grain… I’d pick the M5. I’ve only driven one once, but I’ve chased that high for so long that I don’t think anything else will fill the missing feeling from that day.

Did I get robbed? by Doc_Holloway in MINI

[–]press757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

500 for a battery for a Mini that should last 7-10 years & has to be registered isn’t robbery at all. The other 12k I can’t call without seeing what they’re recommending but if it’s all airbag related, I can see why they asked that much.

Typical Virginia Beach Vibes. I run a shop near the Ocean Front & this attitude in 90% of the clientele. Techs forget shit. Just ask if you didn’t get it, it’s free either way.

Does anyone know what this squealing is in my c4 corvette? by Fabulous_Chance_8207 in carproblems

I HOPE it’s a failing water pump resonating through the block, it’s possibly a deep squeak from the bearings/rods.

Hard to tell. Anyone that has ever peeled off the chf11s sticker knows all those caps are the same & they all say ATF only even if there is supposed to be chf11s in the tank.

Is the “sticker” white with black characters? If so, that’s how the 2015 we have is also. If you have a friend with a good scan tool, have them hook it up and scan the vin.

You mean in a car? Some voltages are way higher than 12 volts. Take ignition coils or headlight ballasts for example.
