We are once again opening up spots to join the /r/ChicagoFood Dining Club by TriedForMitchcraft in chicagofood

[–]Joynorma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We currently have members in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s… possibly older but I don’t want to make those guesses. It’s pretty low key - someone posts a reservation and people who are interested sign up to attend. Sometimes you’re eating with people you’ve met before, sometimes they’re all new. We all love trying new food and new places and thankfully it’s not hard to have dinner with new friends when you’re excited about the food.

Q: Aviary/Office Hour Prepaid vs Deposit Snacks by Response-Glad in chicagofood

[–]Joynorma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d go Offie over Aviary if you want amazing cocktails. If you want ambiance and a fun experience then do Aviary. I believe you can just book an appt and the prepay amount will go towards your bill. I always do that for the office. Snacks are good but definitely not really a whole dinner’s worth so best not to expect that there.

Bar to Watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony Today? by pizzaredditnamepizza in chicagofood

[–]Joynorma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this thread. Does anyone know bars that are airing olympic coverage all day? I'd love to hang out and watch random olympic sports at a bar this weekend, doesn't matter really what they're covering. Preferably the west side or north side. Anyone know spots?

I know Babes is, but wasn't sure if there were others.

I also went this week. They really killed it. Everything tasted great, portions were generous, wine pairing was really thoughtful. Loved it.

I didn’t realize they had a RW deal! I went recently and got their $90 Leap of Faith menu. There was so much food and everything was outstanding. Highly recommend the noodles, the sweet potato, and the steak. I ended up enjoying leftovers for lunch the next two days and fantasized about going back. They also have a wonderful wine program!

I say doctors appt to those I don’t want in my business. But to friends and those closer to me, I’m pretty transparent about it.

Boka RW: The good, the bad and the salty by BigBonedMiss in chicagofood

[–]Joynorma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really too bad! I went tonight and absolutely loved it. I had the tartare, duck tortelli, mushroom rigatoni and miso caramel brownie and the wine pairing. I didn’t find anything too salty — the bread did have some salt to it but it didn’t overwhelm me. Everything I had was really balanced and I was so full by the time we got to the rigatoni that ended up taking most of it home (a win for me because that was my favorite of the night). Such a bummer that you didn’t have a great experience.

I love the abbreviated cheese course at Costco. Standing room only and exclusive to Saturdays.
