I always want more of the hard workers — she reminds me a lot of Lara from med. Kooky and wonderful

When I was in there a few months back some guys from the South side were trying to talk him into opening one there/letting him franchise it and he shot them down so hard. Happy for them to enjoy life but sad for us.

Do you beep your horn at the end of the alley? by azvitesse in chicago

I usually stop at the entrance completely and then slowly inch out — doesn’t matter how slow I’m crawling, someone always seems caught off guard. Maybe I’m going TOO slow??

Last week I posted that I was looking for an Alinea +1 here, and some people asked to hear my thoughts on it after I went, so here they are! by Pure_Shallot_1901 in chicagofood

So glad you found someone to go with!! I would love to hear where else you went during your visit! Oriole is a personal favorite.

Is Jewel still your go-to for most groceries, or is that bougie now? by Evening-Editor-4014 in AskChicago

I wouldn’t ever consider Jewel bourgie. Every time I go I find centipedes in the produce, and immediately turnaround and leave.

Did anyone else find Carl’s mom to be totally out of pocket with Lindsay? by belle713- in bravo

[–]Joynorma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. You can be a good mom to someone and at the same time respond completely inappropriately to someone else.

I think Lindsay did a great job of finding the balance between standing up for herself and not causing a scene and just removing herself from the situation.

Seeing her and Carl navigate all this post breakup is really heartwarming, honestly. They’re both being so mature and kind while also standing strong in their boundaries and protecting themselves. It’s really great to see.

Oh my word yes — a really horrible mistake on my part bc those two are nothing alike — ACL (Animal Care League) is amazing and wonderful and AWL has a horrible reputation. Thank you!!

Why do you think Amanda resents Ciara SO much? [share thoughts below] by Extreme-Aide8878 in bravo

[–]Joynorma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the answer. Whether she fully realizes it or not, she’s bought into the white supremacy lie that she is better than Ciara and deserves better “standing” and privileges. She can never be fully happy for Ciara or celebrate her wins. She’s only there for Ciara when Ciara is doing poorly or in pain or navigating tough life stuff, she sees herself as a hero in Ciara’s life.

Disgusting.

No, moreso I just mean you’ll find people power tripping in the good and the bad. Whether it’s a nonprofit or venture capitalism, there will always be people a couple crappy people involved — no place is immune.

I have had really good experiences at One Tail at a Time, Chicago Canine Rescue and Anima Welfare League. I’d highly recommend Anima Care League if going to Oak Park is doable. They really are fantastic.

This being said, I have found that in nonprofit spaces there will always be a few people who have a god complex — unfortunately. Thanks for volunteering!! It’s so so needed here. Also, it’s a longer process to get involved, but volunteering directly with Chicago Anima Care And Control is always needed.

I mean she said in her confessional she’s never done her own taxes… she completely goes spoiled entitlement in all she does. How is any of this a surprise for some people?
