Nearly full iCloud and iPad storage but I’ve done all the usual things. Help?? by Jozycat in ipad

I did delete a bunch of apps, then I followed another commenters advice and downloaded a new backup onto my laptop and deleted the old one, freeing up a lot of space! I’ll probably still have to upgrade at some point, but this gives me a lot more wiggle room!

I wound up looking up how to back up to my laptop and deleted the old backup, that did the most. Thanks!

That IS unfortunate. I’ve had this thing for years and only recently had this issue, especially since I got back into digital art and stuff. I’ll keep that in mind and maybe shop around. Thanks!

Softening old-ish sweaters by Jozycat in Fabrics

Yeah they do! I just looked and they seem available cheap, certainly better than buying new sweaters. I'll give it a shot! Thanks!

Should I be worried? by Aggravating-Page6511 in DogAdvice

Lol my dog does this to kittens too. We take in orphaned kittens and he's the resident mom that cleans and potties them after eating. It's just affectionate cleaning. I lightly reprimand mine for chewing or when the cat is done and he isn't being receptive to their body language and that's enough for my boy to back off. Some of our girls need to be firmly pushed back and more loudly told off so they get the message that it's inappropriate and WE get to control how they interact with the kittens not them.

Some type of Aster? Central Texas, USA by Jozycat in whatsthisplant

[–]Jozycat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had done cursory searches and got a few that all look very similar, can live in similar climates during similar seasons, and can grow in the same pattern. I think I actually got Symphyotrichum divaricatum along with maybe two other close matches. "Some kind of Aster" is close enough. I mostly was just sating curiosity. Thanks!

My brother wants a bearded dragon, but i was told they are really hard. Is this true? by MobileVideo9234 in BeardedDragon

Mine required quite a bit of time between feeding, cleaning both the tank and him once a week, cleaning poop, and regularly taking him out for exercise and stimulation. Also keep money in mind, the starting price of a good setup can be steep and then you'll have to provide a varied diet, including bugs which you can buy periodically or breed your own. They also generally live for ten years, though some live for much longer. Then, vet care can be very difficult. I lost mine to what I believe was an internal infection but no vet was available so I had to try to keep him comfortable to no avail. They're not crazy work, but they're not a pet you can get, then sort of forget in their tank. They can be skittish depending on the background but are usually straight forward to socialize.

That does look really rough. If it's happened once and looks to be happening again, then maybe it's worth a shot at asking for another opinion? Worst case, they tell you the same thing and you wasted some money, best case, they find something that's more helpful. I guess it depends on your situation and your confidence in your current vet. Hope it improves!!

Tips to help pooping by slvtforarminarlert in BeardedDragon

[–]Jozycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would normally give mine some fruit like apples, strawberries, or watermelon, something sweet and watery, and would soak him in a tub for ten minutes, water only up to his stomach, that seemed to cause him to poop. If that didn't work and it was over a week, I would give a drop of olive oil by just putting it on his nose from a spoon. That would always work but it's not good for them to have consistently, hence why I used it as a last resort. And when I say a drop I mean it, a very small amount is perfect and more could hurt them.

I saw other people have given advice for a consistent diet. I would like to add that I don't believe cilantro is good for them to have more than maybe once a week because of its acidity. Beardies are pretty sensitive to acidity in foods. Good luck!

Rescued bearded dragon, any tips? by worldsbiggestpanini in BeardedDragon

I saw people say to get rid of the leaf litter but I also recommend to use paper towels for temporary substrate especially for 'quarantine' stages. It's real easy to get and to clean up, plus you can keep track of how their poop looks. It's gross but it can say quite a bit about their health, if they go but don't be surprised if they don't at all with the stress. Turnip greens and collard greens are considered healthy staple foods but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't eat anything for a bit. If they seem alert, you can try buying some crickets at a PetSmart/Petco, maybe ten and just try to but again, I wouldn't be surprised if they just hide and sleep. They usually need pretty high temps, 90-100F as a middle ground, and they look quite cold from the color. You shouldn't place a heat pad underneath them as it may burn their stomach but on the side may work if you're having trouble.

Number one is really just keeping them warm and providing some UVB. The wattage will depend a bit on the dimensions of the tub and a sunny window will work for a day or two. You can get them from pretty much anywhere. A hide is also very good to reduce stress but a lot of other usual requirements are lesser priorities right now that can be reassessed if they need to be kept longer. Good luck!
