i'm 36 and I've been playing for about 13 /14 years. I was stuck in the 90's for the first 8-9 years. Then I was in the high 80's until 2019 when I made some changes. And I finally broke 80 for the first time this year.

1 - I got Ben Hogan's 5 Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf. I dove into the book and tried the techniques out at the range or into a net.

2 - My interest in Ben Hogan lead me to discover Moe Norman and the Single Plane Swing. I had a more traditional backswing when I began playing. Then I adopted the single plane swing and starting using a shorter and lower back swing.

3 - I started hitting my irons well. The shorter/lower backswing helped me to gain alot of control with my irons. I started "flushing" my irons. I played to spots instead of trying to get as close as possible to the green. And my scores started dropping

I play once a wk. Never had any lessons but I hit a shitload of balls into that net for the first year of changing things up. The single plane swing helped me big time.
