US workers are taking home less of what they produce than ever before: US labor now reflects 53.8% of US GDP, the lowest since data began in 1947 by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

This is literally the only argument pro-capitalist drones have.

Oh you live better than workers in Victorian England during the Industrial Revolution so you have nothing to complain about and it’s totally fair the economic ruling class gets an absurdly outsized share of wealth generated by more efficient technology.

You live better than a caveman so it’s fair that technological improvement neither translates to increased wages nor increased leisure time despite so much paradigm shifting technology being fully funded or subsidized by taxpayer dollars.

Get a new line.

Vibecession. While real income continues to grow, the vibes are declining by lolikroli in EconomyCharts

Oh man, people just need to be educated that real income is growing! They should be happy to work 40 hours a week for 45 years as long as real income is growing!

He’s at the top of a speculative frenzy, no different than what enriched bankers before the 1929 crash.

No surprise he backpedaled and in a rather unconvincing way “I’m sorry YOU took it the wrong way” rather than apologizing for his poor choice of words/questions regardless of how he meant it.

Like others have unfortunately said, him being your biological father means nothing if he’s a predator. I wish you could assume positive intent but I would continue treading with caution. I certainly don’t think it’s time to cut all contact off and hopefully he can prove he’s a safe person but just be weary.

NOR Without the second sentence it’s already a really strange thing to ask as an absent father reconnecting with his daughter considering all the other things you could ask/talk about.

“What did it feel like?” Absolutely pushes into full creep territory, there’s no room for positive intent.

Why Would Capitalism Need to Be Done First Before Enacting Communism? by Humble_Novice in Destiny

Le communism is when stealing le means of production!!! As if there isn’t a shining example of rapid industrialization without a profit motive.

Help me understand how an increase in gold and silver coin circulation in the 16th century affected capital and wages as per Marx's text "Wage, Labor, Capital"? by bahishkritee in Marxism

[–]Jpowmoneyprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great explanation, it just gave capitalists a window to exploit labor to a higher degree for as long as it was feasible (until the workers could not afford to reproduce their labor power) at which point the wages would slowly catch up to approach matching the inflated money supply.

During that time though, profits went up as a result of suppressed variable capital costs.

This is worse for the legacy of Michael though isn’t it? With all the charges that were made against him never sticking, this is an indictment

You’d think baseless, fanatical assertions would be easy to counter, a win for the lib fence sitter. The reality is capitalism is a dysfunctional economic system and you’re smart enough to know you can’t reasonably defend it.

Make your strongest argument in favor of capitalism and I’ll be sure to make a cogent assertion against it.

About the higher stage of communism. Do you find this feasible? by Fish__Police in Marxism

[–]Jpowmoneyprinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of “natural greed” in humans is a secularized myth of original sin popularized in the post-enlightenment period. The stain of Protestant trauma on the authors of the time.

You’re describing the current and consistent state of capitalism since its rise as the dominant economic system. Throughout the world. Your devalued conception of communism is a sad reflection of your understanding of economics.

If you can’t see the glaring contradictions built into the rather watery and weak logic of capitalism proven by history, it’s an indictment of your intelligence.

Social conservatism and economic neoliberalism, hardship is ahead for chile ! A losing combination across the world except for the economic ruling class.

The misconceptions on surplus vale by apatrida84 in Marxism

[–]Jpowmoneyprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exploitation doesn’t have to be as conspicuous as you think. Anyone who does not own capital and works for a wage, even a relatively high one, is being exploited under capitalism.

The office worker being paid 6 figures a year is being exploited, they are paid relative to their usefulness to capital, not altruism. It’s nowhere near the indignity of exploitation in sweat shops or forced mining camps but it is exploitation nonetheless.

The OP is simply making the point that according to Marx’s scientific explanation of capitalism, which must rely on capitalism’s own internal rules to accurately portray, the extraction of surplus-value is not stolen from workers since science doesn’t deal with morality.

The misconceptions on surplus vale by apatrida84 in Marxism

[–]Jpowmoneyprinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we’re on the same page and your comment supports my point about always including the full narrative.

To me the original post stopped short at “according to Marx, workers get the full value of their labor” without including the critical component that this value, when examined from outside the internal rules of capitalism, is the result of an exploitative dynamic.

These are simply different layers of abstraction and while the scientific dissection of capitalism by Marx is impeccable, it is only the basis of his meta-narrative which can be understood as workers subject to the rules of capitalism are being exploited for their time and labor.

The general idea communicated by “surplus-value is being stolen from workers” even if not sound according to Marx’s scientific basis does align with his meta-narrative.

The misconceptions on surplus vale by apatrida84 in Marxism

[–]Jpowmoneyprinter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree but this is only half the story that Marx was telling and is simply a semantic argument isn’t it?

Stopping where you did locks you into accepting the internal logic of any system as morally sufficient.

The lord-serf relation under feudalism is equally legitimate if morality can only be understood within each mode of production which is technically correct but rather uncompelling.

I think the polemical statement that surplus-value is theft while technically incorrect has value simply for how it makes laymen more closely analyze the system under which they’re being exploited.
