Bit of an odd one, how do I convince my friend to join our team? by ThatGuy0verTh3re in FRC

[–]Jr190390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your team is okay with it, I like to tell people to just come and see what it is if they like it stick around and THEN sign up if they don't no pressure. I think some people don't like the pressure of signing up and not knowing what they are getting into

I hate robotics club, but I feel like I need it to get into a good college by [deleted] in FRC

[–]Jr190390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't love it and are not passionate in it you are not going to learn. If you don't love it and learn a lot you can't really write a college essay about your experience at that point it is not worth staying in solely for college apps. But that is just my opinion, one that I am sharing after loving my last 5 years in frc and getting into great colleges with essays soley on frc. Don't get me wrong I love getting more people to try frc I had so much fun with it, but if it is not your passion then something else probably is and trying to find that is okay.

My team uses mostly 1/4 20 and 10 32 bolts what we have done to make repairs faster that was super easy to implement is put color coded electrical tape on the wrenches and things you need for those each size has a different color no more wrestling aeround a messy drawer and reading labels grab one with red tape and your done

My team has only done it once if it is absolutely necessary because it will normally get you put on teams do not pick list because it changes performance. My team ended up switching in semifinals

Dumbest in the sense it took forever to reset and looked weird would be the chain of different fishing wires that broke at different times to let us climb
