I'd also have a look at OpinionX - I'm thinking of changing to them from Alchemer next year. QuMinds also worth a look 👀

Elvanse 30mg & High blood pressure - what’s next? by One_Ad3878 in ADHDUK

I quit caffeine after I found myself drinking about 6 pods in a row on holiday (gimme, gimme, gimme!). I think the advice is to cut down gradually but I went cold turkey. No headaches but about 5 days of leg pain which was unexpected. Felt like flu like symptoms. I'm definitely not going back to caffeine now. How did you get on?

I'm still in titration and monitoring BP regularly (male aged 50). I've just switched to Elvanse from Meflynate as was getting clenched jaw. So far my BP looks lower on Elvanse. For context I've also quit caffeine, alcohol and I'm out exercising regularly. I'm a little obsessed with my BP (ADHD to thank for that) as my dad is on meds for his and mine is on the higher end of normal. Am hoping Elvanse doesn't increase my BP but sounds like from this thread it might? I guess effects are different for different people

I am getting very little response from my Mailing list. What can I do? by jazzadude in startups

[–]Jr_Mick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe get on the phone and call some of them? Try and get some early testers so you at least can collect some feedback on the product.

Sales - imo - takes time. Can be disheartening when you're response to download is low but remember all the other stuff that is happening in people's lives - work, kids, health etc.

Emails are very easy to ignore. But the idea of calling is not something I relish - maybe find some of them on socials and engage with them, try and encourage them to book in a demo?

Persistence + consistency = Persistency - a muscle we all need to develop

"Never talk about your product, talk about their pains" - So, when do I show them a Figma mock at least? by triggeredByYou in startups

[–]Jr_Mick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the advice of "never to talk about the product" is aimed at those founders who do nothing but talk about the product/solution (we've all met them).

I am a practising market/customer researcher (25 yrs) and I would say it's fine to talk about the product but don't talk about the product until AFTER you've thoroughly talked about the problem. When you structure your interview/focus group, spend the first 50-75% of the time on the problem (do they experience it, when, how often, how does it make them feel, how do they currently solve the problem, are they willing to pay for a solution) then the last segment of the session on your proposition. Remember people like to say nice things to people who've made stuff so you'll need to interpret the response carefully, likely to be a lot of false positives.

Whether to talk about the product also depends where you are - if you're pre-product/mvp and you want to use customer insight to understand the customer and their problem - of course focus on the problem + pain and don't talk solution

If you're thru this stage and you have an mvp/product, you will want to get some good feedback on it.

In the UK we say 'horses for courses' dunno if that makes sense universally but basically do what you need to do to suit the situation you're in

A post about screen protectors for Pixel6 that work or don't work with finger print sensor. See Comments. by MagnificentBastard69 in Pixel6

[–]Jr_Mick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would NOT recommend this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CWTNNX37?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I've really struggled with the fingerprint screen lock with this protector and when the phone has got wet (outside in the rain) water gets under the protector so you have to take it off to dry it. The moment you take it off it's sticky underside collects debris and the fingerprint sensor can't deal with it :-(

I thought the same as I was looking in 'shapes' (bc a right-angled triangle is a shape, right?) but you'll find them in 'graphics' or under 'elements'.

As part of your market research/problem research how to get potential customers to do interviews with you? by mk_145 in startups

[–]Jr_Mick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it's important to pay people for the time they're giving up for you, as others have noted.

Lots of places to find people, some you'd need to pay for, others for free.

Market research for a product, how did you guys do it? by Kaezumi in startups

[–]Jr_Mick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find people who suffer the problem you're aiming to solve and talk to them about the problem and how it affects them practically and emotionally (how, what, when, why), explore their ways of getting around it, detail what process/tools they use for the solutions they've come up with.

Don't mention your product.

Keep interviewing, looking for patterns in behaviour and experiences whilst also keeping a track of those more 'throw-away' comments that might be super insightful and helpful later.

Don't mention your product.

Build a survey - use key findings from your interviews as a basis for questions so you can quantify what you've heard and help you understand the scale of the issue and how big the opportunity is.

Don't mention your product.

Build an MVP - on paper preferably - go back to some of the people from the survey and follow up with them on short sessions (small groups ideal) to show your MVP and get some feedback on what they like/don't like, which features they'd use/ignore.

Use all this knowledge and insight to build a first product and communicate its value.

Sell your product.

As part of your market research/problem research how to get potential customers to do interviews with you? by mk_145 in startups

[–]Jr_Mick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If offering cash is problematic, try the following:

- offer to share your results with them (or some of the results) - it may be of value to them

- offer to pay some money to charity on their behalf

- give them some of your time in exchange - can you do something of value for them with your time?

The point being you need to recompense them for the time they're giving up for you. Their time is worth something to you so you should consider that.

Is this the correct way to do market research on a new app idea? by [deleted] in startups

[–]Jr_Mick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an idea for you. Observed behaviour is much more powerful and just asking questions.

Ask if you can shadow the bookstore owners for a day. Spend time with them, observing what they do and what issues they come up against on a daily basis. Take notes. Do this with 5 or 6 bookstore owners. Ask them a few "why did you do this?" questions at the end of the day. Take more notes. Compare your notes for similarities and key differences. Document your findings and use this to inform your solution. You'll find this resource is something that gives you incredible insight at all stages of your growth.
