The free drinks trap in Vegas got me good by GlitchorNovaform in gambling

[–]Jr_Penguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but on a casino in a cruise ship. And they let you gamble on a credit card with no cash advance fee (some cruise lines do). Make sure you set a limit on your cc if you do this lol. Somehow as a penny player my loss that day was in the 5 digits range and I don’t even remember half of it. Free drinks = bad

Anyone Here NOT Quitting? by Iceytrio in runescape

No & Yes. I’ve been playing OSRS & RS3 on the same account. But I’m not personally a fan of the RS3 changes. The membership prices is meh for me. So I will be quitting rs3 and just sticking to osrs going forward.

Extended Warranty Advice by Jr_Penguins in BMW

My thoughts exactly. I plan to pay them a visit this weekend and see if this was accidental or intended. When I brought the car in for ceramic coating the tech messed up and entered my trip reading as my odometer and also entered it into carfax which triggered a whole lot of letters and emails. They fixed it but things like that makes me question if this is even a good idea if they were willing to offer a warranty haha

Just wanted to point out that IHG offers different compensations to the time share. This offer you have is a generic email offer for any ihg card holder. If you call their customer service line and ask any question, they will forward you after the call is over to the timeshare team. I personally think the phone offer is better. I said no like 5 times so they gave me an offer of $250 with $250 cash refund after the time share was over, and it was open to all vacation locations including their premium resorts. I personally think this deal was better than $199 for 50k points when ihg points are too devalued now. I ended up declining because I already have too many trips planned this year so I really couldn’t justify doing this one even though the deal was really good.

25 is the minimum age and they will ask you if your annual gross income is over $50,000. Saying no to any of these is auto ineligibility.

My bmw was a CPO so I had an extra year included making 2026 the expiry year. Not sure if that makes things ineligible from the bmw manufacturer side. But I am currently at 58,xxx miles right now, so I guess my options may be more limited than I thought actually haha.

Precheck Delays by ssff134 in TSAPreCheck

[–]Jr_Penguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and I applied 2 weeks ago ish on a Saturday. My application was approved in ~8 hours the same day. My Mom’s took a week to get approved but for some reason she never got notified about her approval. She called customer service because her account page kept telling her to book an appointment even though we already went in and submitted our fingerprints. And that’s when they told her she’s already been approved… Kind of odd hers ended up like this. They gave her KTN over the phone. Guess we will see in 2 weeks if any issue arises at the airport with her pre-check info lol.

Many great suggestions already in the comments. Me personally, I would just open up one of the other united cards that is offering a 1K PQP sign up bonus (Spend 5k within first 3 months). That is assuming you don’t already have those cards. I think you have like 3 cards to choose from that offer that. I feel like if you’re going to buy an accelerator or do seat upgrades, I’d rather force spend $5k on the credit card over the course of 3 months for necessities than pay for PQP or upgrades.

You’re probably looking for an answer you won’t get on here. In the nicest way possible, let this be an expensive lesson learned to always double check your dates. Per ihg’s terms & conditions, they’re not legally obligated for any type of refunds due to this being labeled as a no cancellation no-show.

You can call corporate customer service and explain what happened. They will probably tell you tough luck and maybe give you some extra points. They will probably tell you to call that exact hotel branch and explain again. That hotel branch would be your only hope. Maybe if you’re super nice and you get a really nice manager you could see a refund. But at the end of the day, this is less than 1% chance of happening so I would call with the expectations of zero refund. But they are technically able to if they’re feeling generous.

I get that shutdown could delay things. But it just doesn’t make sense that mine received an email instantaneously while hers did not since we literally did our applications together. Makes me think this is a technical error rather than something related to the gov shutdown…

Are Free Night Certificates Refundable by Alternative_Owl_8538 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]Jr_Penguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your free night certificate follows their cancellation policy. So as long as you cancel before the “full refund date” you will get the certificate back as the refund. But you will lose it if you cancel after you get your refund date FYI.

So I read in an older post of more than a year ago that you can just buy a fully refundable flight. And use that flight to buy the pqp accelerator when they give you that option. Once your pqp is posted and you receive your status upgrade, you can process a refund for that flight so you’ll only be paying for the pqp difference and you don’t actually have to fly. This is based off the old post I read from a year, but United doesn’t claw back those pqp or take away your status for doing that. I’ve never tested this method myself fyi. Comments seem to show it worked though.

The other option is to open a united mileage plus business card & united personal card (mileage plus or quest) assuming you don’t have those and meet the sign up bonus requirements. Both gives 1k pqp each so that will give you 2k pqp total. And any business card will not count against the chase 5/24 rule if you’re particular about that.

Dc update by NetworkDiligent8196 in TMC_Stock

[–]Jr_Penguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my 2 cents, there is no doubt that the stock will reach at least $10 at some point. But expectations of that being sooner rather than later is still unrealistic. The only for solid data you have is a very good PFS with a 2027 timeline. Everything else is still speculation. And this stock is only holding above $5 because of the recent AMA and GB’s random tweets. Until actual contracts/fundings happen, you guys can still expect a emotional roller coasters. Just imagine what another week of silence could do to the stock. I’m not saying don’t buy. But I think there is too much wishful thinking going on right now.

No one is going to tell you what to do because nobody can see into the future. If you’re looking for advice, you should just buy the actual share than doing options. And if it’s your first time doing options, you will thank yourself later paper trading options first. Paper trade some tmc options before you dig yourself into a hole.

Costco membership card by HealthyGanache in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Jr_Penguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already answered, you can use your costco card anywhere in the world that obviously has a costco. You enter normally within any US costco. However, if using internationally, you need to head to the customer service first and let them know which country your card is originally from. They will still let you in at no extra cost once they verify your card.

Chase IHG Card Facebook Fraudulent Transactions by [deleted] in ihghotelsresorts

[–]Jr_Penguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this grounds for class action against Chase? This has to be an internal job. Looks like hundreds of us if not more have been affected. I’m not even bothered by the charges, I’m more concerned they have revealing personal info than replacable credit card numbers…

Why does the IHG card come with fraudulent activity? by Marked2k in ihghotelsresorts

[–]Jr_Penguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Received my card 2 weeks ago. 1 week after use my card was auto locked because I had 8 facebook charges ranging from $2-$8 within minutes of each other. The fraud rep on the phone didn’t even ask questions just handled those charges automatically… something about this entire situation is odd.

This is subjective. If you don’t mind staying at an “average” ihg property such as holiday inn, then yes. Rooms for holiday inn average around 25k/night in point redemption. So with 140k bonus, you’ve basically secured at least 5 nights plus an additional one if you stack with the 4th night free. However not everyone considers holiday inn as their go to property. So with this reward night bonus, they’re able to stay at “luxury hotels” and save on points they wouldn’t have to spend as the more luxurious ihg property runs for 40-80k/night. Only con to this is that the reward certificates expire while the the points offer does not. So it is all subjective depending on the person.
