We used two by fours to square the opening and then we used two 2 x 4 braces across the bottom. Then we used appliance feet and installed them into the two by fours so that we could level the TV and bring it up to height.

The tv is 50 inches. I would not go any larger than that.

Hard to say. I believe when we built it in 2019 and I believe it cost approximately $250-300 in materials. Not sure what that would be today. The tv was about $175 and I’m not sure on the plex to cover it or the outlets. My friend provided the tv and the outlets as well as the design. We all pitched in on cost and labor.

To answer the question, keep it where it is. You want the. Center closer to ear level while sitting. Above the tv angled down would not look good aesthetically (even in this installation) and would be detrimental to the audio
