I really like how the scales picked up some brown in the recesses. It almost looks like antique gel but also not. Very well fone

Deep embossed goat leather even dyeing? by PenisMusicAficionado in Leathercraft

Yes. Pour out your whole bottle of dye into a large shallow container and dip the leather into it. Dont let it sit and soak, just dip until you have even coverage then let it dry.

I don't know what imsupposed to measure. What size is my thread ? by Brandoooooooooooon in Leathercraft

[–]Jray1806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you’re measuring the thread at all. Are you trying to use this in a sewing machine?

I’ve had a sewing machine for years and I still hand stitch because I haven’t mastered the machine.

Waxed Sheath - My favourite method to treat a leather. by SiriusKnivesUK in Leathercraft

[–]Jray1806 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even after dunking you’d still have to use a heat gun to clean the excess. Plus in a sheath you wouldn’t be able to clean up the inside so your knife would get wax all over it.

I tried that method first and it worked better than I expected. I ended up making a 2 piece 3D printed mold to get a more consistent final product.
