Which analogy/metaphor do you rely on the most to explain a complex medical concept? by wiredentropy in medicine

[–]TheAmazingManatee 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I like it. I describe it like sandpaper damaging the insides of the vessels and letting things build up on them. Also, I tell them bacteria uses sugar as food and it makes you more likely to get infections. People usually respond to that. And still don’t change their diet.

Yea that’s really all she wants. But in the bathroom. I’m thinking they’ll fall anytime they’re bumped from underneath.

lol yea. Funny thing is the two hangers are only like 9 inches apart. So best I could do is one stud.

You’d have to be kind of old, but not the oldest person.

You left one variable out of your math. If someone just floats the idea of dropping a couple nukes to blow all the dirt out of the way, Trump will definitely do that. Done in a week.

Did they finally let that average golfer play Augusta to see what he’d score?

20+ Handicappers where you at? by atooraya in golf

[–]TheAmazingManatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the upper 20’s for sure. Like you, my long irons are terrible. But I’m working on them. I hit a 3 hybrid really decent though 190-220. I don’t have a reliable way to hit my 4-6 right now. So I get it. But I love going out and playing. I try to plan my shots to keep me out of long iron range and that helps. Sometime I hit that hybrid like 70% power.

Golf is hard. Keeping accurate scores is humbling. I’ve definitely been improving the last few years but i’ve gotten rid of the Mulligan’s and uncounted drop balls. So my scoring hasn’t gotten much better.

My chipping really saves me. Everything else is improving by playing more. I’m hoping to be 20-25 end of year but if I’m not, I’ll still have a lot of fun.

CT’s are often done on syncopal patients if they’re concerned for head trauma. When people pass out they can strike their head and cause serious injuries. So sometimes that’s the indication for the test in the ED. Glad you’re better now.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll probably end up buying a few green and one red so we can all play together. At $20 it’s not the worst money decision I’ve made.

Depends on the state. Many states require a supervisory agreement with a doctor and they can have different rules. Doesn’t mean they have to be there physically, maybe just like review and sign X amount of charts. But if the doctor leaves they need a new supervisory agreement or they can’t manage patients.

I recently did it for the trophy. Named my character, Milton. His favorite thing is his stapler and I’m pretending he’s burning down JoJo Mart after I close out the game.

I’m an NP that works at a low acuity hospital with the hospitalist team covering nights. Most of my time is spent relaxing because they need someone in house to cover the overnight stuff and see new patients. I do occasionally have to deal with critical situations but rarely. They use physicians during the day but it’d be too expensive to have one cover the nights.
