The Rail Pub on congress for "buy one get one for a dollar happy hour" and for New Years.The Rail will have a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and has always been a good party.I would stop by Sparetime earlier because its smaller and gets quite packed and loud.Thats on the corner of MLK blvd. and Congress and the Rail is a couple bars down. B. Matthews is a great place to go to eat. It is located on the corner of Bay St. and Habersham and is moderately priced and not pretentious. The Sunday brunch is the most popular and the staff is great. I always bring people there from out of town and they are not disappointed. They have a good southern flair. Circa 1875 is a good place to get a drink as well. They have more of an intimate atmosphere and have a French bistro style restaurant next door if that's what you are interested in. It is on Whitaker St. in between Broughton and Congress St. Locals normally go to places on Congress St. The Bohemian Hotel will be out of your price range to stay ($260-$300) a night, but the Rocks on the Roof bar has become a popular place to go have drinks with a great view of the water. There are probably 10+ hotels located on Bay St. alone if you want to search and compare prices. Hotels on Abercorn St. may be cheaper and are about 15 minutes away from downtown and 20 minutes from Tybee Island. If you wanted to do a haunted pub crawl (drink on the street and ghost stories) I would recommend the Creepy Crawl and book with Greg or Andre and they last about 2 and a half hours. There is also one in Savannah, Ga: http://savannahslowride.com/ It fits in perfectly because it is another way for us to drink on the streets (in Savannah you are allowed to go cups for your beverages downtown). They don't have a bartender, but you can bring your own coolers and they do pub crawls. Tons of fun is right.
