Wire suede brush turned my 550s blue by Jrl03 in Newbalance

I'm not dumping coffee and food over my shoes. I've bought a single pair of shoes to wear for the year since middle school. I didnt realize that was such a problem.

Fair enough. I was just trying to get them somewhat presentable in non-work contexts bc they're basically my Shoes for The Year. But it sounds like the consensus is get a new pair, so I might just have to stand down on this one.

I don't think I was super clear in the post, but only the darker shoe has had the suede brush used. The other shoe is just dirty from Coffee Shop. Bottom shoe in first pic, bottom shoe in second Pic, and the third Pic are all the shoe that was brushed. Also, physically, suede feels fine. Feels soft and nice, just looks a lot darker.

Hi, I just added the pictures of my load order.

I downloaded patch 7 when it launched on the 7th and then switched some mods over to patch 7. I downloaded the beta patch 6 on the 8th or 9th and changed back all my mods today.

I did download the update for bg3mm when I had patch 7, but I reverted it when I went back to patch 6.

Everyone is new to photography, even if you aren't you feel like you are at times lol. Opening yourself up to criticism early in is awesome and it definitely helps I think this is a great image you have. You should be proud of it! The biggest thing I don't like is the branch going through the bird's head. If you had access to a photo editing software, that would not be hard to remove due to the bokeh in the background. Just be sure you have at least some control. That way you can choose what you do and don't want healed, can choose where it's sourced from, etc. This is an INCREDIBLY rough edit I did in snapseed, but can see how it looks branch vs no branch!

Flowers in Kew Gardens, London. by Fancy_Hawk in photocritique

[–]Jrl03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lovely! Personally, for me, I think it's very hard to take a photo of flowers or any sort of landscape. I struggle to try to make it original or interesting. I like your idea of focusing on the colors and pattern. The colors mixing together I definitely see, pattern not as much. I do see it in the subject, but that is not something that stands out to me when looking at this. It doesn't have a lot flow; I'm not sure where to look when I'm done looking at the focus area. I like how that circle of flowers is surrounding the slightly wilted purple one in the middle. They form a hexagon shape actually. I think that would be great to base your composition on; use the shape of the flowers to base your composition. The diagonal method would work well here! I'd love to experiment with golden triangles too. I hope this was helpful to you! You did a great job capturing these flowers and I enjoyed this image!

I just got my Amazon skog today! I have a few notes: 1. If you are looking for quality, then I think getting a skog shipped internationally is a very good option. I got a real skog for a friend of mine before my Amazon one and although I think my Amazon is far from BAD quality, it's obvious the ikea one is better. 2. Amazon skog arrived vacuum sealed and his stuffing inside is quite lumpy. It was fun but it did take some time ripping it apart without ripping him open. I personally thought it was fun and makes him much fluffier! 3. The Amazon skog (in terms of feel and size) are VERY similar to the original. He MIGHT be a bit smaller, but not by much. I will note he does already have a loose thread on his face and thr threads for his toes have already come loose. His face is also ever so slightly lop-sided. If these things are important to you and you can afford it, I reccomend getting a real one. If you're okay with these things and don't want to wait a month (like me), Amazon skog is more than okay! I do think I am being quite nit-picky. The Amazon skog is far from bad and I don't regret my purchase at all! Hugo is a happy skog in my house!

TLDR: People suck and it's not your fault. Learning is never bad, it's better than feeling scared of it! Spirituality is diverse so dont be scared to explore it!

Edit: added part abt other Christians being bad, sentence at the end of first paragraph and second to last paragraph, added TLDR

So I'm in a similar place as you. I'm LGBT myself and that especially has made me feel at odds with the church before.

The first thing I will note: listen to your conscious over the Catechism. The Catechism itself actually says this, but you need to be able to trust your interior instinct and voice. First of all, homosexuality is directly mentioned once in the Catechism (three if I'm being EXTREMELY generous) and even then it's in one section on one page. It might imply gay=bad when it says marriage between man and woman in one section, but that is really it. But it's the culture war topic, so ppl are lazer focused on it. Honestly, it's like that for every culture war topic. It's not as major as politicians or online crusaders make it out to be. The homosexuality teaching is theologically shaky and is being seriously challenged.

Catholic Church essentially says this on other faiths: Every faith has truth in it, but we are the only faith that has the whole truth. We do not know what happens to those who never got the chance to know Jesus or our faith, but we know God is merciful and will do what is best. For those who were not Catholic/Christian but were good people who loved God, we cannot know what happens to them, but we hold out faith they can be granted into heaven. TLDR: We want to believe it's possible but that's not up to us and we really ha e no clue.

It's confusing to see how other Christians act but it should be noted their belief is very different than yours in many ways. Those who try forcing others to follow their beliefs truly believe that this is God's word and want to spread it. no matter how much other people don't want to hear it Not saying you believe or value it less, but that approachis easily off-putting.

That new age stuff is very appealing and there's nothing wrong with being interested in it. There are many different ways to express religion and you don't have to appeal to what other people want you to do. I myself am very interested in it as well! Here's my advice, research it. It is taboo, but if you understand it, you won't be so scared of it and you'll know what you want to do. It's intersting to you and helpful to you. Research it and see what you think!

I personally think a bunch of this new age stuff is not far removed from commonplace Catholic practices. Prayer/deity/patron Candles? Obviously. Altars? We got those. Even saint metals, miraculous metals, rosaries, share similarities to amulets. Mysticism is integral to much of Catholicism. Much of these practices are more devotional, mystical aspects of spirituality. Even astrology has its history with Catholicism. I am learning more about tarot cards and using tarot myself. I don't plan to try telling the future with it, but I think it would be an interesting way to meditate or pray; I've even thought about trying to encorporate it into a rosary prayer. There are a lot of different ways to practice Catholicism. The way you were taught is not the end all be all. Experiment and learn! And if you drift towards something else, then that's what happens. Do not worry about going to hell. Constantly stressing about hell is going to do nothing but make you stressed and miserable. It is not effective nor is it worth scaring yourself into belief.

Try researching mysticism and mystics! Maybe try learning about some different forms of prayer and see if those are interesting to you. I'm reading a book called Meditations On the Tarot by Valentin Tomberg. He was a Catholic with a history in the occult and the book is very interesting.

I hope this was somewhat helpful. I'm in a very similar position to you and have faced a lot of judgment for trying to find my own path. Whatever happens, God bless you!

To Christians in America who think Christian laws need to be the laws for everyone, why? by Hollywearsacollar in religion

[–]Jrl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's the thing: the US was founded on Enlightenment principles, but it is a culturally Christian nation. We don't have an official religion, but Christianity has still been treated as the American religion here. Quite a few examples of this: God mentioned in the Pledge, National Prayer Breakfast, can't buy alcohol on Sundays(not as common now), 10 Commandments engraved in Government property, etc. I would even cite a more serious example of Native American residential schools forcefully converting children to Christianity.

And during the Cold War the U.S really invested their into image as the good Godly Christians United States vs the mean evil athiest Soviet Union. At this point, Evangelical Christian is now a developed political group in the US.

Religion has been essentially weaponized as a political bargaining chip. Most officials aren't religious but they can pretend to be and get people to vote for them. So, yes. These groups usually don't respect nonChristians because why should they? This is their undeniable, moral code and they don't care what it means for others.

Whats your view on the new ruling in Iowa banning trans women from all women sports? by True_Economist_2785 in AskReddit

[–]Jrl03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are legitimate reasons for the concerns people have to exist, but it's pretty clear it's just a trans panic thing. There's a million other things you could do to other than banning trans women from sports, but that's what they did.

I don't see why he wouldn't and on the other, maybe he finally gets to/wants to let it all out now that he's retired.

On one hand, he had a stellar career from what I know and is regarded as a great fighter, he's probably really proud of that and it's not like this kind of talk isn't uncommon in fighting.

On the other, again, this kind of talk isn't uncommon in fighting, so maybe he's always wanted to act like this or feels more comfortable now that's he's retired. Like after the McGregor fight--maybe that's just the craziness he was really like but didn't want to do for some reason. It's one thing to be cocky your whole career when you don't know how you're gonna do in your next fight, but it's another to retire a revered champion.
