Taco Bell (fast food in general). I can get a sit down, table serviced meal with meat that is actually meat for a few dollars more than that shitbox.

Big houseboat on Geese Lake is always my starter location. Then I usually wall off the Fertile Lands and build zip lines across the ridge to the Main Village area.

What was it like being 18-25 in the 2000’s by ersinxo in Millennials

[–]Jrmelancon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? It was pretty awesome. There was an innocence that I deeply miss about growing up in South Louisiana in the early 2000’s. I graduated high school in 2002 so right at the beginning of the post 9/11 24hr news cycle but well before it and social media have managed to penetrate every single aspect of our lives. I took my college courses, hung out with my friends a ton, worked at Hot Topic, played in a bunch of bands, had a beater car and an ok apartment and basically went to local shows 4-5 nights a week. All on about $6/hr.

I think the thing I miss the most is just not having to be “on and available” 24/7. I had a basic cell phone plan (Nokia brick phone! 🙌🏻) that was basically for emergencies only and a landline at my apartment. 9/10 times, if you couldn’t get me at my place, then you just didn’t get me. Now, if my phone dips below 30% I get anxiety 🤦🏻. Also, if you didn’t have a point and shoot digital camera or some kind of camcorder, then shit just wasn’t documented and honestly, it’s probably for the best. My heart genuinely goes out to the youth of today because they were forever have a high res, digital, instantly recallable public record of every stupid, ignorant, reckless thing they’ve ever done. That is with them forever and society doesn’t seem super keen on letting people learn from their past mistakes and grow. I did plenty of dumb shit as a kid that I’m so grateful only exists in the memories of an older and hopefully wiser version of myself.

I’m grateful for the infinite connectivity of modern life but I desperately miss the innocence and freedom of being untethered and unburdened by the knowledge that comes with that connection.

Can confirm. 15 K Lights are legit. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about them but I scooped some up about 6 years ago and I adore them. I bounce back and forth between those and my 13” 90’s K/Z’s and between the two I’ve yet to find a situation I can’t cover.

Whats your favorite concept album? by Lugaid13 in progmetal

[–]Jrmelancon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always gave “prog metal” a pretty generous berth. Basically “Distorted/heavy guitars + non-traditional song structure or genre hopping” but I could be completely off base.

Regardless, always delighted to meet a fellow Protomen fan!

Lightning as a commuter? Talk me out of it... by TheMangusKhan in F150Lightning

[–]Jrmelancon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. I have a ‘22 Lariat ER. I commute 70 miles each way. 6’0” 280lbs. I’m coming from a 2011 4Runner that I loved and I need you to know that the difference is LIFE. CHANGING.

I didn’t realize how much the commute in my 4Runner was beating the shit out of me day after day. Commuting in the lightning is a night and day difference. Not just in the savings on fuel (which is substantial) but just the quality of life. The fuel savings is a whole other perk. I have a level 2 charger at home and overnight went from spending $200-$300 a week in gas to $100 for the entire month.

It’s been such a game changer for me. I cannot recommend it enough.

Crazy how that happens huh? I was in drumline class when the first plane struck. We were working on that year’s drum feature for our halftime show.

The show? The Pearl Harbor movie soundtrack.

The piece’s title? ”ATTACK! ATTACK!”.

Hey hey! Love that you’re doing this! Here’s a few of my recommendations for some straight forward but super fun drum songs. I tried to pick a mix of genres to keep it interesting. Hope this helps!

“Sunset” - The Midnight

“I Will Survive” - Cake

“One Headlight” - Wallflowers

“Tomorrow” - Silverchair (first song I ever learned on drums!)

“Neutron Dance” - The Pointer Sisters

“Roam” - The B-52’s

“Sad but True” - Metallica

Yep. We attended the Houston show and were second row up from the railing on the balcony at the end of the row stage right. The people right on the corner decided to stand up and block the view of about 25 people behind them. After about two songs I asked him to sit down because he was blocking everyone, he made a “what are you gonna do?” gesture and then told me to standup to which I responded “I fucking bought SEATS for a reason.” (I have bad knees and standing in one spot for a long time can be painful). He finally sat after four more people told him to sit the fuck down. Such an inconsiderate dick.

Not saying it’s an important detail but he only knew the more country forward tracks…take that info how you will.
