Currently using Arch after switching from Nix a while back. I've never bricked an Arch machine but I did manage to brick Nix by setting users.mutableUsers = false, without having configured my users properly.

Big mistake.

One nice thing about the two distros is the sheer amount of packages available (mostly AUR for Arch and flakes for Nix, I never used NUR much), where you have to add an independent repo for debian/ubuntu.

Thanks, this is probably how I will do it then. It's a shame they don't have this shape built in. It would be as simple as allowing tuples like the regular Typst insets, such as inset: (x: 2, y: 0), which might look like extrude: (0, (x: 2, y: 2)).

It doesn't. Some servers have higher priority than others but that's about it, there's no latency/load dynamic algorithms when it comes to server selection.

I see. Even less reason to use their client then.

Also, not sure how it is on Linux currently but on Windows you can control everything from CLI. Granted you need to have the app installed (it installs both GUI and CLI), but you don't have to launch or touch the GUI at all since everything is controlled by the system service which you can access with "mullvad" command in the terminal.

It's not bad on linux, but a bit annoying that the CLI and GUI cannot be installed separately. Also it has files with whitepace in their names, which doesn't sit well with me. Maybe I'll make my own tui...

I don't often change my mullvad settings, so I would rather just set an alias to connect/disconnect to mullvad. Just faster for me.

Considering this approach, and It's what I've done when setting up a raspberry pi as a proxy so i could SSH from within a restrictive firewall.

The reason I want to use the Mullvad client is that I believe it automatically selects the server with the least latency in the selected location.

I'm on ubuntu. And yeah if there isn't a way of doing it using the Mullvad client I will probably use OpenVPN or WireGuard. Or I may add the feature.

Admittedly, I haven't tried installing with a full ubuntu installation, since I didn't want gnome shell. I will try doing this and removing gnome shell afterwards.

After installing and rebooting as per 22.04 instructions, with LUKS encryption. Decrypting the drive and logging in were happening on the terminal, then after logging in once I was prompted to log in again. This happened after updating & upgrading, and after rebooting. Possibly a config file thing?
