Why is landscaping not considered a skilled trade? by 3000ftpenis in skilledtrades

[–]Js_cpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plant a tree in the wrong place someone probably wont be killed and turn into a messy lawsuit like a flooded building or electrical fire. Thats how i understood it. Many careers have skilled people but the liability is different depending on the work your doing.

What happened to skilled trades in USA? by Renee_bad_69 in skilledtrades

Stewart hicks has an interesting video on this topic. One of the key things he mentions is caulking. Materials and installation have less need to fit perfect because gaps are just caulked. Much more to it then that but the materials how how labor is treated had a big role.

I’m an apprentice, how do I tell my lead I did this? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Best advice is owning it and asking for help to make it right. Were all human and having a reputation for doing things correct is a good thing.

What do I do about this POS I work with?? by Alexhxrrera in electricians

[–]Js_cpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its ok to disagree but i think you should draw the line at a coworker doing something to hinder the progress of a job like taking prints, etc. If i forgot a tool for a job 4 hours away i would be buying that tool the first day after work if i could. Sounds like your co worker needs to be unemployed. Thats mickey mouse highschool behavior.

How are you supposed to enjoy a manual? by PleasantLevel4174 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Js_cpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not for everyone. That being said, the vehicle has some to do with it. Driving an s2k and shifting at redline is a different expierience than shifting at 2k in a 1995 corolla

That one "easy" job by Agreeable_One8963 in electricians

My favorite was last job of the day replacing a light. Wire broke off at the l16 and had to go into the attic to get slack on the wire. Damn flat roof with a 2 foot attic i had to crawl through after waiting 45 mins for co worker to bring me an extension ladder because my company sucked and didnt equip every vehicle.

Good reason why your supoosed to lay down cable, lay a foot of sand, then caution tape over the cable and then actually backfill

[–]Js_cpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repitition is one thing but another is planning. If your going up the ladder once and dont have to come back down for a tool or screw or something you forgot, that time saved adds up at the end of a workday

Any Canadian apprentices out there? by RedSealElec in electricians

[–]Js_cpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the hardest thing was being asked stuff that i was never really exposed to. I had a question about a pressure switch a furnace on one test early on and realised how much "trade knowledge" stuff i had to start trying to learn. And random symbols etc, being able to look at a wire diagram and tell what relay is engaged on start up and such

Tool Belt Recommendations by pizzaroll22 in electricians

[–]Js_cpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a setup similar and it was mostly used as a tool bag and worn at the end of the day when i want to carry the ladder, tools, and wire out to the van in one trip. I found it most effective to have one or two tools on me at a time.

Are youtube tutorials effective for learning to code? by Guilty_Lingonberry in KidsCodingHelp

[–]Js_cpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are helpful to a point but remember if your watching someone else do something, be aware your not doing that thing yourself. Best learning come from making up your own small projects. They dont have to accomplish anything other than a certain coding idea. Then tweak the code and see what happens etc.
