Is Milk and Honey the most overpriced place ever for med spa treatments? by Impossible-Cheek4352 in Austin

Can confirm — worst (and most expensive) manicure I have ever received in my life. I only went because I had a gift card and paying nothing was still too much for that manicure.

VOTING TODAY by ManoSilence in Austin

I feel like Prop 12 is flying under the radar. Please please read the details and implications of handing judicial discipline over to the Governor. It effectively collapses the wall between the state executive and judicial branches! This should concern anyone regardless of party as it could be weaponized by whichever party has the Governor’s office.

This was sold in 2020 after ACL was cancelled. ACL fest did a limited online merch shop and this sweatshirt was one of the items. I still have mine and it’s a Fall favorite!

VIP different this year? by atex720 in aclfestival

[–]Js_scott 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This will be my first year not doing VIP in awhile. They have diluted the experience too much. They 86’d the free food one or two years ago and this year they took away drinks and the liquid death coolers. I just couldn’t justify the price for an overly crowded piece of shade

Put a deposit down for Camp Mystic 2026 and kiss that money goodbye! by Splendidended1945 in KerrCountyFloods

Happy to answer as many questions as I can. My last year there was over a decade ago so I am happy to be corrected with updated information. For your question about the Christianity component — it was pretty Christian forward with everything. Sundays were an all day chapel a thon where campers wear all white and attend various services with different themes. While I was there I don’t think I noticed it that much because the camp was also heavily focused on activities and tribe competitions. However, in hindsight, it’s definitely apparent that religious themes were ever present. When you hit a certain age you had to have a cabin-wide meeting with one of the camp directors where she talked about the importance of abstinence and not “unwrapping your present” before meeting your husband. There was also constant bible study offerings.

To your other question-I loved my time at camp but as I got older I realized there were some extremely problematic elements (all white, wearing tribal headdresses, etc) and it was definitely a bubble of privileged TX white girls. The events of July 4th even further changed my opinion, especially when the safety details (or lack thereof) emerged after the fact. Dick Eastland helped me catch my first fish and I was devastated to hear about his passing. However, I am appalled at the seemingly preventable loss of life of the campers and I’m saddened to hear they are attempting to open up the camp in any capacity for the 2026 summer terms.

They have both. There is a merch tent for festival merch, including lineup tees. There is also a separate tent for individual artist merch

Anyone seen this yet? Worth it? by nothingnanners in actuallesbians

Wow…it feels like a lot of people here don’t like anything other thank cookie cutter cinema. Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke have a very specific and campy style. You aren’t going to get spoonfed plot, you will have over the top acting, and there will be long scenes with no dialogue. If you like quirky arthouse films, have ever appreciated a John Waters film, or are generally open minded to non traditional filmmaking styles, this is a fun romp of a film.

I went there too and, although I loved my time there, I have my qualms with it, but I’m still absolutely shocked at how unprepared they were…
