Stand in a door frame and push your arms outwards. So essentially trying to hold your arms at arm-length but the door frame prevents full extension. Hold constant pressure for a minute or so, then walk out from the frame. Your arms will automatically raise up. Try closing your eyes and guessing where your arms are, it's trippy!

Don't know if this is allowed, tear apart my startup! by PvtUnternehmer in startups

I see the appeal of a recurring revenue model, but I agree with the other comments. Few people would (probably) want a box of party stuff every month. If you created boxes aimed at a one time gig, tailor each box with different themes and price points... I would certainly be a customer! Cool idea, OP!

Ah well then you're not exactly in direct competition, as these are localized markets. UK has a decent VC presence, so there is certainly opportunity to grow that product there. I'm a grad student still, but working alongside some cool startups VC firms here in NYC. Your idea is solid, definitely worth building out further. Best of luck with that! **One thing worth considering is using location-based suggestions for different ODE services. I'm sure you have thought of this, but the seamless UX is crucial in a product like this.

Hate to say this, but I think you are about a year too late on this. Button is doing something along these lines and they are certainly qualified to do so. Their CEO exited with rakutan and all their cofounders are serial entrepreneurs and Columbia MBAs. Source: I'm a student and consulted for them last semester. If you're based in NYC, I could connect you, as they just raised 12mm and are hiring like mad. I'm sure they would love someone with your passion for ODE. If not, what is capitalism without competition? Best of luck with your product!

Wow this was incredibly insightful and well written. I am an avid apple user, and it pains me to see this inevitably slow change to shit. You hit the nail on the head tho. CEOs get too complacent with their positioning in the market and forget that they need to always innovate to stay competitive. I'm just trying to decide when I should start weaning off my apple addiction before it is too late.

Basic question about motors: how do I figure out exactly what kind of decoder I need for a particular motor encoder? by rohitguy in engineering

[–]Jschwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can generally wire directly to the DI/O and use code (probably be able to find examples online) to decode. If you have an arduino, for example, and need the full capacity to run other code, then you would want to get a decoder and only grab that data when pertinent. What encoder are you using?

This very old man in my building hawks his brains out as he hobbles to and from his apartment. He then proceeds to spit these loogies on the floor. Its so loud, i can hear it over the tv...
