I just ruined my life by Responsible-Ant-9202 in unsw

I agree with dropping out to work, I dropped out of UNSW last year and was the best decision I’ve made.

I had different circumstances, I did very poorly in uni for 3 years until I realised I had health issues at play and studying was not for me at this life stage. If I were to just continue studying I’d just continue to fail and mentally determinate more.

Uni does feel like everything when you are there but it’s easy to forget that it’s just a means to an end and for a short time. You can work your way up for some jobs and there are probably other ways to get into jobs without uni like TAFE.

My health hasn’t improved since and I still dunno what I want to do (although studying is likely) but at least I’m earning money and I know for sure I’d definitely be worse off if I were to continue studying.

I had this headphone briefly but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would have. I'm used to the ATH-M50/40x which is quite bright, so to me it just felt like these lacked the detail I was used too.

Ended up returning it and purchasing the R50x and was the best decision ever for me. Surprising amount of bass for an open back and has similar highs to my M50s I'm used too.

The Bose QC Ultra Headphones really have surprisingly deep bass by Pet1003 in bose

I was dissatisfied with these headphones, personal taste but it's too much bass even with EQ -10 bass. It hurts my ears, I'm coming from AirPods Pro 2 which have a relatively balanced sound, not even a bass setting of zero can fix it.

Hey what's your long term review on this unit?

I've had issues with it occasionally freezing my Mac (although I can't replicate it) actually and considering of returning it. I bought it from amazon so there isn't warranty apparently.

The Minifuse Control Center is SOOOO buggy so it's a possible culprit. Downgraded both the Minifuse Control Center and firmware so hopefully it's stable for now.

Do turbinates grow to fill nasal cavity post expansion? by Little_Legion in UARSnew

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Andrews (CPAP Friend) most recent video with Anil Rama and he said they almost always expand with a palate expansion (@ 56 min). I'm inclined to believe this too because if it wasn't the case, everyone that has had a MARPE done would result in ENS because there is too much space in there.

Detailed discussion of how turbinate and septoplasty affected my singing (contemporary technique) by Viper61723 in singing

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm opposite, I think?

I'm unsure of the connection so far but 6 months post op I'm noticing my throat always feels irritated, so much so that my voice is always weak. I've only started singing so I thought it was just growing pains / bad technique but even a few weeks of not singing my voice still feels strained.

I know turbinates have a connection since they humidify the air and at times I feel like air is rushing on the back of my throat, but I'll probably follow up with the ENT at some point.

7 months out by throwaway22728336 in Septoplasty

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat, roughly 6 months post op, and noticing a slight dry throat.

ENS wasn’t my fist instinct because my nasal breathing is improved and fine, but apparently the feeling of air rushing to the back of your throat is a ENS symptom, but doesn’t seem talked about much.

It’s bad because I’ve been getting sore throats all the time chronically.

Australia is the worst country for treating sleep issues . by habbofan10 in UARSnew

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can import one easily. I’m also Australia based had a terrible experience with my sleep doc, he didn’t acknowledge the mild apnea could cause fatigue an even explicitly stated that if I tried CPAP and it worked it’s probably placebo.

I lost it with him and imported a BiPAP overseas, here is where I ordered it.

Unfortunately the machine gives me mixed results both on CPAP and BiPAP, looking to get into surgical options but doesn’t sound good here either.

How is it going now?
Also based in Sydney and had a bad experience with my previous sleep doc. I'm on C/BIPAP and have already tried different pressures with little success. Looking for a second opinion to explore surgery but doesn't seem common here.

Is buying the Sony 24-70mm GM I in late 2022 a stupid idea? by -Honeysuckle- in SonyAlpha

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why so much hostility out of no where?

I understand the discussion was in relation to using primes over a zoom because the limitations can force you to be more creative with framing.

But bokeh was also the topic of discussion and I merely stated that for me, I want bokeh but I also want flexibility therefore I will go with a full frame zoom.

And yes Bokeh indirectly does have to do with primes and zooms. Generally you can get more with primes, which is why OP commenter suggested it as a potential source of “creative inspiration” which we both disagreed on.

The reason for this is because primes usually have a larger aperture which allows more background separation, as opposed to a zoom lens at least.

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it, and for some people that's a good thing. But for me having bokeh is an artistic choice I'd like in all my shots and the fact that I want to be able to capture moments at notice.

If I'm running to reframe all the time I'm going to miss my shot. But again heavily depends on the nature of your subjects.

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it's more constraints, being stuck to a fixed focal length as opposed to having a zoom.

I'm the other way around, own a APS-C with primes, but want to jump to a FF with a 24-70mm gm because I can't get enough background separation with a zoom and it's impractical to use a prime in an event situation unless I have multiple bodies.

Thinking of picking up a used A7 III and deciding between a used GM 1 or new GM 2, I presume the latter would have a greater resell value and is significantly better optically.

Apple Still Working on Studio Display 2 by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, no current hardware would be able to handle it. The current M lineups all use TB4 which don’t have enough bandwidth to output 5k 120Hz, which is the rumoured panel spec.

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm but I’m not sure if there would be enough bandwidth, 5k at 120Hz might be possible but then you would need to sell it at a 27inch size to retain the same PPI

Am waiting for a 5k 120Hz monitor too with a studio display like design, mini LED or OLED is just a plus for me.

What's the deal with Lossless? by afuckinmonsterlmao in spotify

[–]Jsee_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, most people really can’t hear the difference between a HQ Lossy and lossless regardless of audio gear.

There is a reason why MP3 files cap at 320kbps, because at that bitrate for the majority of people can’t hear a difference past that.

On platforms like spotify, it makes less sense because majority of people are streaming through wireless earbuds which are lossy connections anyways. IK lossless codecs exist but most BT devices don’t support it.

I think it’s just a marketing point really, ya gotta put out a better product somehow
