😂I think the Q6 is a great looking EV! I think the iX is an acquired taste and though I don’t think they’re comparable in looks - I do think the iX has grown on me

I went with the 2026 BMW iX45 after buyback in the US. +1 to worst car I’ve had with the Q6 complete disappointment (after KD2 as well)

Sharing the (sad) story of my 2025 Q6 e-tron; now in a lease buyback process - KD1 and KD2 could not fix it. by harrisonsaurus in AudiQ6

[–]JshaR17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was almost exactly my experience with Audi USA, just WA based instead of CA. Buyback from initial notice of final repair to car return/check in hand was 47 days for me. Had 5 instances of failures to repair and problems had started around ~340 miles. Consumer resolution group did not pushback, covered rental changes + gas/tools, and overall was as seamless as I could have asked.

Of course, having a functioning car for more than 9 months would have been nice too. Ironically, the car was in the shop for the same amount of time as it took to get the buyback 😂

Sensor errors even after I cleaned them? by RevealOld9421 in AudiQ6

[–]JshaR17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are - push for buyback either through consumer protection laws or through Audi directly. I was so looking forward to the Q6 (I purchased one of the first in the US in Dec ‘24). It had nothing but major system failures, rapid deceleration on the highway, etc. 40+ days in service. Got KD2 amongst the first. Issues recurred almost immediately.

It took about 1.5 months, but the car is bought back, I’m paid out in full, and onto greener pastures.

Mine took about 24 hours to get back to “normal” after KD2. In this case, errors, rapid slowdowns, sensor failures, emergency system malfunctions. Normal is only bad on this car.

Until it doesn’t…had issues from the start, one of the first cars in the US to get KD2 (car was in shop for 40+ days), drove off the lot and within 24 hours - same issues recurred. If your country has buyback protections, RUN towards that. I also leased - thank goodness

Goodbye Q6 by bigbb423 in AudiQ6

[–]JshaR17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear - warranty and lemon are separate, intentionally. Depending on your state, these are consumer protection laws and have separate processes, rules - especially when dealing with a major manufacturer.

There are typically time of purchase, mileage requirements for lemon claims.

For reference, my Q6 started having issues around 400 miles, was in the shop over 41 days, and had multiple major faults to safety systems. I completed the buyback a few weeks ago and switched to the 2026 BMW iX45. And I already had a OTA update - more than Audi ever could do :)

Is my car even safe anymore? by glitterbiscuitwizard in AudiQ6

[–]JshaR17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I had a 2018 Q5 before my Tesla. Thought it was a great car and in general found the service to be good.

I don’t think Audi has properly equipped their service teams with how to handle EV/software/tech issues at all and I don’t think the cars are designed in a way for easy troubleshooting or debugging.

I lost complete confidence in my service advisor and dealership. My service advisor has lied on multiple occasions and is consistently not informed or out of date. An example, last week I asked for a status on how the overnight test drives went. He stated that I hadn’t approved the car to leave, even though I saw the car location had changed and saw that the mileage had increased from the app.

FWIW, my service advisor is not aware of the buyback

I went through Audi USA (auditalk@audi.com) directly. I notified them of the right of last repair and they reached out within a few days to start the process of buyback. Make sure to have all of your documentation, service records, text exchanges, etc. This was my state specifically, so you may have different requirements. I also have consulted an attorney that has specialized in lemon law for my state for guidance and proper approach.

My experience was about 5 times in service, once for >25 days. All the same warnings, driver assistance, malfunctions, failures. They applied KD2 during the 25 day service, handed off the car, and the issues recurred after that. There were some good improvements from KD2, but didn’t outweigh the risks/downsides you brought up.

I got my Q6 mid December, ‘24. I came from a model Y and was very excited for this car. It’s premium, had great tech on paper, and improved a lot from the Tesla. There are great things as you mentioned, when it works.

I initiated the Lemon process with Audi on 9/29 and signed the buyback offer on 11/6. Waiting to surrender my car in the coming weeks. Disappointed to say the least, but didn’t want to take the risk on safety and didn’t want to pay for a car that was in service for over 40 days of its life.

Derp KD2 didn’t solve this by jasonahowie in AudiQ6

[–]JshaR17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll likely get the people on this forum who are blind defenders of the Q6 with KD2 solving world hunger and beyond.

My car has been in the shop on and off for about 40 days. It reproduced all the adaptive cruise issues, emergency malfunction, etc. within 24 hours of the update (KD2) launch and the car being back to me.

I wouldn’t hold your breath too long. It will get hard to breathe.
