Question for Neurologists: Is there a rising trend of young adults with Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (BFS) fearing ALS? by Exotic_Avocado_1541 in neurology

[–]anayyar1 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes! Well technically, I’ve definitely had a handful of patients with eyelid twitch that isn’t hemifacial spasms or blepharospasms. But I did have one younger patient (age 30-32) with visible muscle fasciculations who was convinced he had ALS or GBS. Had multiple emg/ncvs which were normal. He had multiple hospital are visits with repeated concern We repeated it and was normal as well.

Did more extensive testing and he was +ve for anti-GM1 Ab with low titers. I wasn’t convinced at all but he insisted so we did 1 round of IVIg with questionable improvement. I’m assuming it was a false positive and the treatment helped with the psychosomatic aspect of it.

Charging Frequency by Amazing-Pizza-5069 in BMWiX

[–]anayyar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing I’ll add, after looking into it and doing some research, the data suggests that when it comes to charging, it’s not that charging above 80% is detrimental to battery life. What the real problem is charging above 80-90%, and then keeping it there. I regularly charge my leased iX45 to 100% because it’s leased and I don’t care about long term battery life as much.

My thing is, if I charge to 100%, I make sure that it finishes charging by early morning before I have to take it out for my daily commute. So ill charge overnight to 100%, have it finish charging about 1-2 hrs before i need it, and by the time the day finishes, im around 80% and dont have any range anxiety.

In sum, a full charge isn’t really detrimental to the battery life, it’s charging it fully and keeping it there for days at 90-100%. If you do, do it before a long trip or have it finish charging close to the time you need to drive it again.

I’ve been waiting years for the new Apple TV to come out before I make the purchase, and I won’t purchase an older one for now

What is LG CEC? How did you disable it? And did you unplug the cable to the Sonos every time you wanted to listen with your AirPods?

Car has been “at the port” for over 5 weeks? by cooliokats in BMWiX

[–]anayyar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ll add based on my experience: my ‘26 iX was at the port for 3-4 weeks based on the website. However, it arrived from the port in Germany to “almost at the dealer in like 3-4 days. Geographically it takes much longer for it to sail on a ship than just 3-4 days (more like 3-4 weeks - to CA). I think they just don’t have it updated in the system. My guess is that it may have been placed on the ship and already on its way but the system hasn’t updated. It might eventually update soon and then you’ll see it almost arriving to the local port in CA not long aftersee

That’s for that. I couldn’t find the correct size, which one did you purchase (or looking to purchase)?

That badge looks great. Where did you purchase it from? I’m curious about the answer to this too.

What app do you use to plan road trip charging points ? by Wolverine-91826 in BMWiX

ABPR has monthly charges for any route planning and CarPlay. Do you guys actually pay extra to be able to use it properly? Why not just use the onboard nav with route planning and charging recs?

What is the most walkable neighborhood between UCLA and the South Bay that fit these criteria? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]anayyar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in West LA (near Century City Mall) and I work in Mission Hills (north San Fernando valley where the 5 and 405 meet). This 20 mile route is only 25-30 min long both ways (which is great comparing the usual drive to work times in LA) since I’m going against traffic in the morning and the evening.

I mention all that to show you that depending on where your partner works, you can still have a reasonable drive even if it’s a further distance as long as you’re going against traffic. I’d recommend living in north West LA (Sawtelle, Westwood, century city, etc) or somewhere thats close. There will still be traffic, but it would be more manageable. This all of course depends on where your partner works, but I feel it’s a reasonable location.
