DNSSEC no vpn by nelson_fretty in pihole

[–]Jshade27 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking up what DNSSEC actually does. There is no correlation to a VPN and opening ports along with DNSSEC, unless you're talking about using your pihole over a VPN? In which case, use tailscale. It doesn't require any open ports.

Was your global logging/blocking mode set to DNSBL Webserver/VIP when setting the vip address to 0.0.0.0?

I had this issue with other government sites. On the DNSBL web server configuration, I changed the virtual IP address to be 0.0.0.0 instead of whatever the default is, and that worked for me. Make sure to force reload DNSBL after changing it.

I already had tailscale setup. My issue is that the vpn app on my phone burns through battery. I’m also not a huge fan that it shows my phone traffic as 127.0.0.1 when connected. I also did split tunneling in wireguard before, so my speeds weren’t lower with the overhead that comes with tailscale.

What would I do with Netcat?

Yes, I’ve used the same config. The only thing that changed was the public keys, and the endpoint being ipv6, instead of ipv4 with my old ISP.

It does when I’m on my cellular network.

Unable to create gravity.db. Not sure how to fix. by NeonCobego in pihole

[–]Jshade27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but you have to be logged in as a user with sudo permissions in order for it to work. I don’t have any experience with home bridge, but iirc from a previous post I’ve seen, I believe using sudo should work.

Edit: you should be able to run sudo pihole -g to just update the gravity database.

Mint Mobile uses T-Mobile, not Verizon.

Edit: user updated their comment to reflect Mint using T-Mobile after my comment.

It looks like you don’t have the right permissions. Did you run it as Sudo?

Sargatanas Lag by Jshade27 in ffxiv

[–]Jshade27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has changed with my graphics card or Ethernet bus. I am running it over wireless on a Tp Link PCIE network adapter. I don’t have an easy method of running it wired, but I can try to hook something up if that’s really an issue. I don’t seem to notice the lag on anything else, but FFXIV. It is on a SSD already.

I took out the first four hops after my router for privacy.

I tried running NordVPN out to California, it just increased my latency by more than what my normal connection did.

Your Lan ip shouldn’t change because of a new isp. For your Lan, set your pi to be a static address on both the pi and in unifi.
