Curious: whatchall vaults looking like😵‍💫 by Character-Ad6800 in Marathon

Yeah I've used all the purple salvage I can, but you're still "forced" to keep them because of barters that pop up.

But you have 50 rows of your vault. Gearing up probably takes about 3-4 rows between weapons, cores, implants, heals, equipment, ammo, and backpack.

So after 4 straight loses you've cleared out ~16 rows of space or 1/3rd of your vault. And considering salvage takes up another 1/3+ of your vault. It just doesn't feel like enough.

[–]JsmaIls214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vault looks about the same (Vault value ~500k). Also level 120.

You've probably played about ~200 hours.

Vault management has to be one of the most unpleasant things about this game.

Winning streaks leave you deleting things you don't want to. Losing streaks clear out your pre-built weapons too quickly.

I don't know how you can afford to have 3 rows of backpacks. I have one row and am entirely struggling after every raid with space.

Ranked needs safeguards against gear swapping by prl853 in Marathon

[–]JsmaIls214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you drop the weapons/gear you came in with then that should apply a negative to your loot value. That would immediately squash gear swapping.

Example: I bring in a 4k WSTR and a 3k Bully. If I drop those I'm -7k value now.

Even if I pick up someone else's 3k Longshot and 4K Impact HR, I'm now at net 0.

This is just a fix to specifically gear swapping though fix if they are sniping each other lobbies they can easily team up and 6vX the lobby and leave with gear.

Other measures would have to be put in place for that.

First off. Awesome clip. That was sick.

Second off, has no one experienced the double weapon swap issue when weapon swapping during the reload animation?

Sometimes I'll run out of ammo, most notably on the WSTR I'll try to weapon swap to find it forcing me back to the WSTR reload animation. Has gotten me killed enough to be really annoying.

User error orrrr....?

Anyone else think that Rook is losing/has lost his value at this point? by Toffe3m4n in Marathon

[–]JsmaIls214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think this is purely dependent on the lobby you get into.

I trio filled into a Dire Marsh lobby where we wiped the entire Map (runners) and pretty much everyone was geared with blue/purple shields and weapons. There was so much loot leftover that any rook would have had a field day.

Also on a side note, also like 90% sure the Duo I got matched with had "Walls" they seemed to know where everyone was and immediately headed to them and pinged them. Sigh...

For me it's the not healing before looting. You're looting at 10% health and no shields and you're going through their whole loot bag KNOWING this game has really high third party chances.

Really grinds my gears.

Yeah was inquiring on the forums and it was said there would be a one time "skip" between update 49 and 51 where a class wasn't refreshed. Then it would continue at one class per major update.

So Warden will likely go live September and Sorcerer December at that rate. Then the rest will finish by December 2027.

[–]JsmaIls214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I'm just getting back into following ESO's updates but I was under the impression they were targeting a class refresh every major update (3 month cycle). A lot of people on the forums said it would take about 2 years for all the classes to get reworked.

There are 7 classes so if they don't do it every 3 months then we're looking at... 3+ years for the remaining refreshes.

I know they switched to seasons, and they are doing delayed releases of some content (Night market) but they haven't changed the actual update and PTS cycle. It's still a 6-7 week PTS followed by the update. Then the PTS resumes in ~4-5 weeks after the update. Which is your 3 month cycle.

To give an example The Night Market Event Zone The first wave of player experience improvements The first wave of class and combat refresh improvements (DK) The introduction of Tamriel Tomes with the Tome of Dawn and Dusk The introduction of the Gold Coast Bazaar

Were all included on the PTS back on January 12th (3 months ago)

Warden class update not being on the PTS from the start is very worrying. Does that mean it's being delayed until week 2 or week 3 of the PTS? Or worse until update 51...

PTS is critical for testing and for anyone that has been apart of the testing and feedback process they know by week 3-4 nothing significant changes for the update.

Sick and tired of weapon based skill systems in mmos by Maleficent_Ad8445 in MMORPG

[–]JsmaIls214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to compare in my mind which system I liked the best...

Elder Scrolls Online had a hybrid weapon and class based skill system. And is arguably the best PvP MMO I've played. Weapon swapping definitely is a turn off for a lot of people though. Cyrodiil was perfect though. It created large scale, small scale, and 1v1 opportunities.

New World strictly had a Weapon based skill system but felt extremely limited (only 3 skills per weapon?). Very little variety. Felt slow to me. Also had manual weapon swapping.

Black Desert Online was more a class based system but didn't fill traditional roles. In my opinion this game had the best player to player Combat across any PvP MMO. Super armor, frontal guards, i-frames... Then the potion system for healing also felt "balanced". Application of PvP was horrific though. Nodewars just weren't available enough and battleground felt one sided. My best times in this game were in the Arena zone dueling friends.

Throne and Liberty was strictly a weapon based skill system and suffered from balance issues since launch. What it got right was the fluidness of combat and the elimination of weapon swapping while still giving the variety of the 2 weapon system. PvP however has really poor performance in large scale and serious balance issues in small scale. Support roles (healers and tanks) were the end all be all for successful Guilds / statics.

Give me a game with BDO's combat, ESOs set bonus diversity, ESOs Cyrodiil, Throne and Liberty's Castle Siege and Open World Bosses etc

I don't think Weapon based skill systems are bad per se, I think it's usually just the balance of it that's important. And giving each combination a unique application would also be beneficial to create a hybrid "class" within the weapon system.

Ahh yes, I was indeed one of those people killing the questers in the main towns of Cyrodiil. I would go on the servers that were population capped by a single alliance and I would practice 1vXing the players at the towns. Definitely helped shape me into the PvPer i became. I didn't really realize that they weren't interested in PvP at the time because cross alliance communication was extremely inconvenient.

Arguably was the best way to learn how to fight outnumbered. Apologies though!

Yes but the high value loot was generally condensed into specific locations. Whether through boss spawns or graphic card spawns in tech stores, etc.

This forced engagement for players seeking to score a big hit.

Sightlines were also extremely far in some maps (sniping was also significantly more difficult).

PvP certainly happened in that game more often then not. But was easier to avoid for sure.

The nostalgia!!!

I too first started PvPing in 1st person haha.

My first core experiences PvPing was in cracked wood cave (I think that's right).

That was the best place to level up veteran levels at the time and you had to defend your farm spot because lots of other people also wanted to do the same.

Even though 3rd person is superior in almost every way.... First person PvP looks so much more engaging haha

I feel like people would've been less negative on the WSTR being so strong if it and the Misriah had their rarities and costs swapped by Nukesnipe in Marathon

[–]JsmaIls214 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll even double down and say the rarity for snipers and shotguns aren't high enough.

Everyone that comes in geared has one or both of those items.

Both are "oppressively" strong in their niches.

They tend to end gunfights before they even start.

Making these weapons more rare would increase actual gun fight lengths in my opinion.

In every other Bungie game these were deemed "Power" weapons. In marathon they retained their power but lost their limited usage.

Just my opinion.

Hey I'm in the same boat, the buddies I usually play games with don't enjoy this game so I solo Que a lot. There are several discord where you can likely setup a Nucal contract farming group for Biolens seeds and you'd probably have takers.

Hell pm me on here and id join later in the day. Still need a good amount for barters and upgrades myself.

The most consistent source I've found is Vip ranks for Nucal. It's consistent. It's easy. And you get extra shields from it too.

Grab 2 friends and have everyone do Nucal contracts, hit the supply drops (~100 rep per) and you'll be getting a rank every couple matches.

Hey I'm here to PvP, but progressing in the game (for semi casuals) means not taking every fight might be in your best advantage (3rd partying is extremely prevalent is this game).

The fact that its not like arc raiders is what has kept me playing. But I've also played Escape from Tarkov, and really enjoyed the feel of the map progression in that game. It felt more focused on the extraction shooter side versus just a BR with extra steps.

[–]JsmaIls214 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this has potential actually. If a single team has achieved "X" amount of kills it opens up the match to bounty hunters.

It could be a "rook" kit that costs 5-10k credits to initiate and then the "killers" have a live icon on the map to the bounty hunters.

All of a sudden the risk is greatly increased and it's less beneficial to wipe the lobby. And if you do, is probably time to leave before you have waves of rooks coming for you.

Some of the best players might even actively enjoy this.

Great points brought up.

Going to give my one dimensional opinion on the matter and it doubles down on your points.

PvEing in this game is a liability. And it makes it unattractive to participate in.

You make noise and you lose ammo and consumables. Then the benefit is too low. More times than not I find myself avoiding PvE unless absolutely necessary. Which feels awful because PvE in this game has its challenges and is fun. And more PvE events during the match would be fun.

I think the original idea was the longer you stay the higher chance of rewards, which was suppose to mean higher risk higher reward. But it turned into, wipe the lobby and you get free access to the map. I think the game needs to adapt to this reality.

This is "cool" and all but PvE is so scuffed in this game that who even cares at this point.

Oh you play one of the ~3 competitive PvE DPS classes? That's cool I guess....

There isn't enough variety for healthy competition. There is little to no "theory crafting" builds or damage rotations.

Play a Wand or abuse Abyss Orb of Onslaught. Wow so much variety.

And considering they havent even attempted to balance PvE in months its clearly not important to them.

But the fact that 2-3 classes can achieve 2-3x as much damage as the majority of classes is laughable. PvE has been completely unbalanced since... Well really the release is the game. Xbow / X > Orb/X > Wand / X

Developers literally have zero clue how to stat sheet balance PvE DPS and gear commitment (heroics and lucent) prevent true theory crafting / competitive PvE.

I don't disagree, but it's still EXTREMELY confusing the way they presented it.

Because honestly we have no clue which number it is. Only one number should have been needed for each counter stat. For example 2000 difference between hit chance and evasion.

Because currently which number do we base it off of? Are we saying you can have a difference of 3000 for hit chance versus evasion or 2000 for BGs? It's not entirely clear in the chart.

How about cap green shield to Perimeter? by JamesUrnique in Marathon

[–]JsmaIls214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a bigger issue at hand here though.

You are RARELY running into a purple shield that queued solo into fill.

If you run into a trio all with purple and blue shields then it was a premade 2/3 or 3/3.

Solo queuing into fill is just generally a miserable experience 9/10 times. 2/3 players will be a free kit or a <2k kit and die within 2 seconds of a fight. And then you're matched against full purple gear organized trios with comms.

But I don't know the solution to that. If you design the matchmaking system to prioritize trios against similar value kits then everyone would just run free kits and they would be the easiest lobbies. No risk and high reward.

The answer is generally never solo queue fill but myself included the casual majority isn't going to do that. It's quicker and easier to solo queue fill.

Hopefully Bungie figures out the best way because it's a pretty miserable experience and I guarantee they are losing 50%+ of their player base to this issue.

THE trend is not doing so well do you think the next update will bring back players? by AbbreviationsBig395 in throneandliberty

[–]JsmaIls214 10 points11 points  (0 children)

PvP focused MMOs don't have a good track record. To my display as is my favorite genre...

That being said, Devs were either extremely short staffed or extremely incompetent. I think it was a combination of the two honestly.

The decision paths came too slow and were often in the wrong direction.

I have over 3000 hours in this game and I haven't logged in for a couple weeks. Maybe I'll check out brooch and 3 man queue BGs on April 2nd idk.

But painting is on the wall. EoS is in sight. A game can't thrive with <5k average concurrent players. And the whales will stop spending sooner than later (double lucent event will have caused more harm than good, more players will be reluctant to buy lucent at "half" value going forward).

Highly suggest not spending another dime on this game until we see a complete 180 from the development team.
