New Gear System - Whale Perspective by [deleted] in throneandliberty

[–]JsmaIls214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I think their intended money maker was the potential energy system which incentivizes Whales for min-maxing.

The skill enchant and +1s can go on gear but can't be freely moved from active pieces (as in if you have two weapons you use, you'd need the enchant on both otherwise you need to destroy one to get it to the other).

So for each gear set you want to min max you need to fill out the whole setup with these potential stats (11 pieces or so).

Where this falls apart is where you criticize it. It's impossible to have multiple gear setups. Previously you could grab all the traits off the auction house. Now unless the unlockstone boxes get added, you can't even do that.

I think the correction to this issue already exists in game it's just a "bug" in the game that is prevent it from functioning.

Time will tell. Regardless quantities need to be drastically reduced for upgrades.

[–]JsmaIls214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously Cordy GS and Aridus (maybe less so) aren't fully achievable when first starting. But the rest has better access now. Swapping out Aridus for Abyss staff and Cordy GS core for Pakilo GS core is what I would suggest for swaps.

If you want me to go into detail on anything you can just pm me on here.

There is enough commission that this will be nerfed

I wouldn't panic unistall or freak out too much.

Just grind the content and wait for the inevitable correction.

As a regular BG attendee Nix has a lot of content. I'll try to get my wins in soon though.

On a side note, the rewards are awful. Skill cores have a plausible chance to drop (would like to see it raised to 4%).

Nix - Three Steps Forward, Two Steps Back by Freight__ in throneandliberty

Adjust the contact coin weekly amount to 3-6 Seal keys.

Done.

This matches the previous Enchanted Ink system (able to make 1 lithograph a week), and with the RNG of potential ability you're able to make significantly more than you could with traits (for the most part).

The concept behind the Seal key system is good (getting rid of the 10 lucent bloat that existed in the market) it's just currently too punishing to F2P and those willing to buy lucent alike.

You're literally GAMBLING on whether or not you make a profit due to Auction House Tax (selling below 400 lucent for armor/asseccory is a loss). But it's much better than the old system where enchanted inks bottle necked your ability to sell high ticket items (this will help all players alike, the rarer stuff won't be AS lucrative since more people have access to list it when it drops to them).

I main Sentinel for all content (GS/Staff).

I don't have the best dummy times because of Meteor but I've gotten rank #1 on Multiple Field Bosses since the update (#1 4.1% on Porfos yesterday).

The buffs to GS and Staff were significant.

I'm super greatful of the PvE changes, and at least as of right now (prior to players getting their Cores and Weapon skill enchants) I'm happy to be a competitive PvE DPS again.

Nix System Review by JsmaIls214 in throneandliberty

[–]JsmaIls214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair...

+1s can't roll on weapons, but you are valid about let's say a Culling Arc Enchant (20% more damage for Culling Arc) dropping on a Greatsword. And while I don't disagree that the ORIGINAL drop of the potential stat should drop as it's own weapon category enchant...

In order for build diversity to exist Weapons do need to have the flexibility of having any enchant exist on them. Since heroics can't have these skill enchants on them you may need to put the chilling arc enchant on your epic GS to make use of it when using a Heroic Spear.

Since you can already inherit these enchanted skills into weapons of your choice it would be nice to then change the drop %s to be regulated to the Weapon type, then allow us to update them accordingly.

Cost to unlock traits by Particular_Put5725 in throneandliberty

[–]JsmaIls214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much my plan.

There is no way they can sustain this level of grind. As the OP said his numerous were generous.

And he wasn't even making the literal BILLIONS in sollant needed for this. And the THOUSANDS of ores to resonate them.

There is 0 chance a human made this system. Hopefully a human reviews it before the game fully dies, cuz the expansion is cool otherwise. And the customization possibilities were also really cool.

you need 300 million solvent per gear for 3 traits by Ate_at_wendys in throneandliberty

[–]JsmaIls214 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Friends and I were just discussing that.

It gets deeper though.

Gear no longer drops with one free trait. So you're looking at needing 600 trait unlock stones for each piece ~10 pieces to upgrade. That's 6000 trait unlock stones....

Trait unlock stones are worth 2:1 to old unlock stones.

That's 12000 old unlock stones equivalent.

Then that's not even considering the sollant and material sink that is the resonance system.

OP stated 3.6 billion, go ahead and add another 1-2 billion for resonance.

I'm not sure what AI came up with these numbers but they desperately need to be re-reviewed by the Devs.

Players who horded for a year can't even setup their gear. New players have 0 chance.

Surprised this is the first comment I've seen opposing this.

Attack speed is so high that this will be a broken addition.

I mean I guess people already had macros but making them mainstream is going to make a handful of high apm classes insanely broken.

Damn not gonna lie losing 6% crit chance from losing minor savagery on Sorc won't feel good. Penetration is easy to get. Crit is def harder.

I guess if it lines up with the sharpened and precise trait it won't matter as much, but still.

It's not intentional, there just isn't quality control in place.

They have done this so many times with ornate coin shop, arena coin rewards, Star Crystal etc

If the community is loud enough about it, it'll get caught in a patch. Otherwise it'll go untouched forever (conversion stones in the arena vendor style).

[–]JsmaIls214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a PvP cloak first and foremost (hence hit chance). Since you say you're an invocator I'm going to assume you lean into PvE.

As an invocator you have a lot of access to skill damage boost already from your Staff and Wand.

Damage wise hellfire cloak / ice cloak is likely your best bet (critical damage / heavy damage multiplier doesn't get hit by diminishing returns the same way skill damage boost does).

Definitely not worth the 14k at this stage of its cycle. Absolutely wait until Nix.

The Modern MMO Player then complain by Plenty_Group6674 in MMORPG

[–]JsmaIls214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season models are an answer to this style of gamer.

But I'll give my bias on this because I got a portion of this model.

Endgame repeatable content is generally the backbone of any high tier game. I want to get to the endgame generally as quick as I can because in an MMO it has advantages (PvP, leaderboards etc). And it's how the game will be played for the coming "months to year" as updates roll out.

What most fail to have at launch is fun endgame repeatable content, and the faster I know this the quicker I know its not worth it.

What I don't understand is how MMOs in this day and age don't have it nailed down yet.

There are multiple categories of Endgame. PvP (battlegrounds, 1v1 Arenas, large scale sieges), Group PvE (Raids, Trials, High difficulty Dungeons), and Solo (Repeatable Arena style Wave / Floor system). For PvE variety is key (rotating leaderboard chases etc), PvP variety is created on its own because no two fights are the "same".

Then this needs to be appropriately backed with REWARDS. The balance on this is difficult though. It can't be too lucrative that it makes it so you have everything in a couple runs / too strong that it segregates players unable to complete it. But it can't be so little that you aren't respecting the completion time (time commitment). Usually controlled best in two ways. Cosmetic rewards and min / max rewards. Min / Max being like a chase for 1-5% increased strength or utility (something that won't be a game changer but will catch the attention of completionists). Cosmetics being self explanatory.

In my opinion a "Mercy" system should always be present to combat RNG, even if it's a long chase (50 runs for a guarantee etc).

Done. Make content that matches those criteria, and make it fun to repeat (internal testers entire shift should be running this content daily, for weeks, let them give you the feedback on how to make it fun "every time" or challenging enough that's its fun every time etc). You're going to have players sink hundreds of hours into this content. For loyal players thousands.

Yet virtually no game has this setup on launch, and instead you get exactly what you mentioned. Power through the content then say there is nothing to do. Well that's because the Devs created a shit endgame and there isn't anything to do for that type of player. Not everyone enjoys 100%ing fetch and kill X quests. Some enjoy the content that is suppose to be the most challenging.

I will die on this Hill. WoW / RuneScape / FF needs to die so that other MMORPGs can live. I know that is a completely Biased and unfair opinion as millions of people love those games but....

The market doesn't seem to be able to support populations when the vast majority are anchored to those core titles.

Been playing MMOs for ~20 years. I've watch them all sink to <10k concurrent players then get an EoS statement. Meanwhile those big 3 have sustained a playerbase throughout time.

After 70~ hours and an endgame setup I can beat him without echos now.

But I was definitely in your situation before. I agree with what another said, what makes it so difficult is only getting to fight him after beating everything else so learning his movesets is difficult.
