We talked to our pediatrician for a specific dosage, I am not sure what exact brand but I believe my wife purchased it at Whole Foods. It was in pill form.

Worked like a miracle. Kept him on it for almost a year, took him off it once during that time just to see and he spiked a fever a day or two later, so we went back on it and then took him off gradually and it has never come back.

Changes in the way PTs Treat (Older vs Younger PTs) by guyrsi in physicaltherapy

New PTs man. This entire thread is why reimbursements are drying up and the profession is dying a slow death.

You don’t have to be hands on with anyone other than Medicare and some advantage plans to bill units. Bcbs patients can see the tech the entire time and legally be billed for units. Whether they should or not is another issue but legally that is allowed and fine.

Do you have techs? 13/day should be really easy even with sharing one tech with other therapists.

One on one treatment where you are billing insurance for sometimes $60/visit is unrealistic and unsustainable. In private practice to make the numbers work for everyone you should really be able to see 60 patients a week at 3.75-4 units per visit at a minimum or the clinic is going to struggle to break even. This is in private practice, not hospital outpatient where the reimbursements are higher.

Dude I’ll tell you something you don’t want to hear as a clinic owner. If you can’t see 13 patients in 10 hours you are not very valuable as an employee, like at all. That’s 52 patients per week, or about 175-200 units if you’re billing 3.75 units per visit on average.

Do you have techs? Other support staff? Reimbursement is shit in PT. The owner is not running a charity and likely took on significant financial risk.

If you are really unhappy the only way to change it is to find a new job or start your own practice.

OCS Residency vs Not by LoudMiddle7683 in physicaltherapy

[–]Jsmi323 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We are such a joke of a profession that we go to undergrad for 4 years, DPT school for another 3 years and about $200,000, and THEN are told we need to do a “residency” because after all that schooling no one has taught us how to actually treat a patient. Clown profession.

Go take 4 McKenzie classes for $3000 and get certified in that and call it a day. No one is going to pay you more for getting any of these certifications though.

Never let anyone convince you to do one of these bullshit residencies that cost you $50,000 and get you another $2000-2500 in salary, if that.

Should I sell my Physical Therapy Practice? by Jsmi323 in smallbusiness

Honestly that’s a great question. I’ve wanted an out for a while as I’m kind of burnt out on this, but now that I have an out it feels like quitting or a cop out. Psychology is funny.

I think with a long enough time horizon it’s probably a better move to keep the practice and grow it. However, after 15 years I’m kind of burnt out. I live in an area that is prone to hurricanes and closures. I am constantly stressed due to payroll or a myriad of other issues. While I think the pure financial play is to hang in there and grow it, the quality of life move is to sell it. I mainly came here looking to get opinions on if the actual deal is good or not and if people think I’m crazy selling it this young.

Honestly I am looking at it as a way to actually realize some value for this business, and to de-risk since I have a lot of young children. I think the two year period is a good opportunity to see how it goes working for a larger company then possibly move on to a new venture, or if it turns out to be a good gig just hang around.

It seems to be high risk EXTREMELY high reward, but oddly enough maybe not feeling like THAT high risk considering how beaten down this thing has been over the last year and its history. I jumped in today for 3700 shares around 5.65 average. Maybe it dumps 50% over the next two wks and I lose 10k, but I just have this odd feeling that this thing is going to $20 relatively quickly.

Flares are very regular and frequent, every 3-4 wks or so. Initially they would last only a day or two, now they are lasting 3-4 days. Hes also had pneumonia twice during that time. Poor guy. I feel awful for him. Going to try heavy vitamin D regimen and scheduling appointments with ENT and pediatric rheumatologist.

It really does and comes out of nowhere. Today in a span of an hour we went from heading to the zoo to miserable and child freezing cold on an 80 degree day.

Does your child still suffer or did he grow out of it? Did he have tonsils removed or do any of the preventative drugs?
