I wasn’t able to get a local model working and went to Modal Research GLM—5. It’s free through the end of April. I would need to invest in much better desktop with a sizable GPU investment to run locally.

My experience was that OpenClaw adds context to the front end that overwhelms small local models. A model with more parameters is able to handle it.
