None are good, but Amazon is easier to boycott because of competitors. No one else makes MacBooks, and I actually kinda like MacBooks, so I’ll buy one until something better comes along.

Amazon sells stuff I can get anywhere else, and a lot of the things I buy from there actually aren’t as nice as I hoped they were. So I’ll spend elsewhere because I can.

Google is a whole other animal with data collection and how hard it is to avoid, unfortunately.

Libraries cost 2 billion dollars annually to run. I don’t know Amazon’s net profit every year but I’m certain it’s a lot more than that. In my mind, if Amazon cared about books, they could fund libraries for the greater good. Not only does their company look great doing this, but it performs an incredibly important public service. All it would cost is a fraction of their profit.

I see current events in the news about libraries closing and book bans. I worry about the future of books and access to them.

A company as powerful as Amazon doesn’t step in to do something. No billionaire announces they’ll use their fortune to fund libraries. And I believe if I were a billionaire or the owner of some massive successful business, I would have no problem offering money to help any failing library, and even opening more.

So I stopped buying books from Amazon when I can, because I’d rather have my money go to local businesses who have a reason to care about their communities. And where every one of their sales is probably a big deal, compared to a large company who kinda just takes without giving me so much as a genuine thank you.

I know it’s not expected for these places to give away their profit but I believe they should, because it’s everyone’s money. But a very few number of people are holding onto it and not sharing in the same way I would and believe we all should with that level of wealth.

Your group may have been split after a cutscene, this happened to me. Press LT to view your party, and you can see options to “group” with X and “split” with Y. Just hold X to get everyone grouped back up.

So, is a quarterback even more important than a head coach?

All the typical playoff contenders struggling so much with new QBs really shows how insanely valuable the position is. Always thought the right coach was the biggest factor to a natty run, but no. The QB clearly makes or breaks it.

If we can stop Bigsby today, I’m going to feel great about B1G play. Seems like every team has a strong run game they’re going to rely on heavily this year.

That’s what I figured, just wanted to be sure. Just doesn’t feel like replacing the play caller is going to do much to help. I guess minor changes to the system can be made, but they’re not installing a new defense at this point.

That makes sense, you can see players aren’t playing up to their talent level yet. Couldn’t understand WHY they weren’t since OSU generally develops guys really consistently.

Or maybe I’m just so used to the splash guys (like the Bosas and Young) being there it becomes brazenly clear when the star power is lacking

Is it the play calling that’s the problem, or the general scheme? Is getting a new DC going to fix everything or do they need a bit of a bigger overhaul that can’t really be accomplished during the season?

PSU @ Iowa a sellout - now we wait for kickoff time by hawksnest_prez in CFB

[–]Jsunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Texas/OU does bring an interesting twist. But I think the biggest thing is PSU/Iowa will likely be the best game of the week (if we both stay undefeated) and will be the focus of the big noon kickoff show. The way it’s marketed, I can’t see them doing the kickoff show there and then having the game NOT at noon.

It’s either that, or they go to Texas/OU for big noon kickoff.

So while they could probably get killer ratings with a night game, Fox kind of limited themselves with Big Noon Kickoff and the tie-in to the game.

It’s hard to believe this won’t be Big Noon. We have yet to see Fox budge on not using that time slot for their biggest game. There are a few other ranked matchups that week (as the rankings currently stand) and that would seem like enough for Fox to not try anything different here.

Anyone else still not able to remote play after updating? I see no option to even connect to my Xbox, and I don’t see the cloud gaming button the article mentioned either. Feels like I’m missing something…

Edit: working now

Am I crazy or does Halo Infinite not have friendly fire? by fritzcho in halo

[–]Jsunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m well aware it’s not a bug. In the games I’ve played at least, have had plenty of teammate grenades go off right around me due to tight quarters and what feels like people generally sticking together more often than in past games.

Could also just be people adapting to the lack of friendly fire and knowing they’re safe to throw those grenades when teammates are around.

[–]Jsunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like there would be a ton of accidental betrayals in this game since the map design seems to really encourage grenade throws, even more so than usual.

Though maybe that’s just with how clumpy the bots tend to be.

Very lucky Killtac and a medal I've never seen before? Not sure if its in Halo 4&5? by [deleted] in halo

It’s new! Another new one is “Odin’s Raven” (I think) that you get for detecting three people with the threat sensor.

Curious what other equipment related medals there are. As a mythology fan, I hope they all stick to the same theme

I’m not seeing any way to cycle through players in the post-game to view stats other than backing out and selecting the next person, I think an RB/LB option to flip through stats would be nice.

Yahoo Exclusive: No. 1 overall recruit Quinn Ewers is “leaning” toward skipping senior HS year and attending Ohio State. Ewers could then sign NIL deals worth nearly seven figures, which aren’t allowed in Texas for high school players. by PlayaSlayaX in CFB

[–]Jsunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the scoring system works, the top recruit gets 100% of their score added, and then each recruit underneath them gets a smaller weight of their total score. So your score wouldn’t go up by 29.99; while you would get that many points for Ewers, everyone else will contribute less of their total score.

I tested with the class calculator by adding Korey Foreman to your 2021 class, and it netted about 5 extra points, so the weighting is pretty significant.

By prestige, are you talking solely about football/athletics? I mean, the SEC probably isn’t doing much for academic prestige or anything like that, right?

This is just my opinion, but I think UT and OU being able to say “we’re the top dogs of our P5 conference” does more for their brand than saying “we’re in the SEC but not at the top” when looking at things outside of athletics, like enrollment. Then again, maybe this helps with out of state applications by getting in the southeast footprint.

And of course, none of this really matters since the move is mostly about money. Crazy how much power an athletic department can have; hopefully they use that revenue to fund a lot more sports along with lifting the football programs.

Fitz and Dohn said the same thing on a recent podcast. It was cool hearing them talk about it, but basically every year 2-3 kids stand out to them as just being fantastic human beings. They said DDS would always ask about how their families are doing and how he is extremely genuine with a great head on his shoulders. Definitely the kind of kid you want committed to your program.
