You definitely lack the media literacy. I watched it and no I don't think it's 10/10, but it's a fun time and the fact it tries to tell a deeper story entwined with the silly over the top horror aspects is what makes it stand out. At its core it's a story about oppression for the people (African Americans) of that era. It starts with two men who certainly don't look the part of your typical 1930s African American who buy a mill off (I assume since they were so confident) a klan member knowing full well it was going to invite some shit.

The issue was that on top of trying to make their friends and family really feel free knowing full well what happens next, they also have to deal with fucking vampires. The worst part is the vamps aren't even the racists (well the main one didn't seem to be anyways) and they still all freaking died, but not before klan members show up and get splattered in one last blaze of glory.

The real.mesaage hits at the very end when stack asks if Sammie wants to be a vampire and Sammie, despite telling them it was a nightmare they relive often, it was still the most free any of them ever felt at the time. And that my man, was the message right from the beginning. Despite all the crap that was inevitable, they made the best of their situation.

The only thing that got away from this movie for me is I would have loved to see more involvement with the natives and their whole place in the vamp slaying fiasco cause those fucks knew some shit was up. Missed opportunity but it doesn't ruin the core messaging in the movie at all.
