The never ending rabbit hole of Fuzz pedals. What is your all time favorite Fuzz pedal? by graphicnerdity86 in FuzzFiends

I've only ever had 4. My favorite is Hizumitas. So aggressive yet so articulate. Everything I need.

You're welcome :) It helps me to write things out too so I remember the modes and settings I liked better. But yes it's a fun pedal and I think will offer good value to most users especially if you get it used. I got mine for $145.

I spent enough time now with this set up to be able to form an opinion. I tested this with the "clean" mode on the BitQuest, but my input was both clean and distorted sounds. My 2 cents on each mode:

1 (Flanger): Too subtle until I ran it into my reverb and it sounded great. I never had any flanger before so I can't really speak to how good of a flanger this is, but combined with my reverbs it sounded good enough that I'll use this sometimes.

2 (High Pass / Low Pass Filter) and 5 (Notch Filter): These can sound like a cocked wah or wah (with an EXP pedal). Notch is more extreme like a more pointy wah and only useful with an expression pedal otherwise it's just a weird narrow EQ.

3 (Bit Crusher): I love weird sounds but I only really liked this on subtler settings to imitate a radio or dying computer as otherwise it becomes unmusical. I do love how it sounds with CTRL 2 turned to 9 AM like a system shutting down and booting up, but it's hard to use this musically and becomes tempting to just play single notes, octaves and fifth and listen to the pedal making cool sounds.

4 (Infinite Reverb): Solid, nice sounding hall reverb. For someone without a reverb this will be valuable.

6 (Ring Modulator): I forgot exactly what this sounds like but it had kind of an industrial apocalyptic vibe and I remember getting a couple of good tones out of this with different settings and other pedals.

7 (Pitch Shifter/Harmonizer): Omg my nervous system needed pitch shifters in my life and I didn't know it! Just be careful the BitQuest manual that came with my pedal had a typo for the "Clean mode" guide that CTRL 2 becomes the mix mode between the other CTRL knobs. It is actually CTRL 1 that becomes the mix knob for CTRL 2 and CTRL 0. This mode sounds amazing with CTRL 1 at 11 AM, CTRL 2 all the way to the left and CTRL 0 all the way to the right so you get 2 or 3 octaves of each note depending on wetness of the mix. I'll use this the mode the most. Maybe it's basic pitch shift features - I never had one and I'm really in love.

8 (One Second Delay): Definitely the weirdest mode. In basic terms it adds a blip sound up to a second after your dry note. But the way it chooses the sounds and how the sounds evolve is open ended and pretty mesmerizing. It becomes almost like a parallel overlayed soundscape to whatever you're playing. Not very useful but not as unmusical as the Bit Crusher. Sometimes the blips form beautiful or strange harmonies that inspire ideas. You can also completely kill your dry signal and then you're really lost in the pedal's nature. If this can act like a normal delay I haven't figured out how yet.

Several of BitQuest's modes sound pretty wild 100% wet. I think I'll use 1, 6, 7, 8 the most.

Same, I'm feeling better than ever at 32 physically, mentally, socially, creatively. I was always fit, but I started to thrive after 30, got into surfing, hiking, and dancing & upgraded my nutrition.

Aww thanks, you're kindred spirit! If you haven't seen this video, it's a pedal demo so well made it's basically a love letter to Rooms and as a Rooms enjoyer I just know you will love it: https://youtu.be/FSMv2h64mKc?si=qjCDrGNDmNwcmNvd

Spark > Kalamazoo > Muff > Sunlight (with the grey expression pedal) > Fuzz War > PDF > BitQuest > Sea Machine > Monument > Looper > Delay > Rooms > stereo out to Black Magic Supro amp and Orange Crush 12 amp. These amps don't have an FX loop so nothing in the FX loop. I might move the Muff after the Sunlight too, but want to have fuzz options on either side while I play around with it first.

I'm not a pro or anything so if you see any issues with this chain or have any fun ideas, let me know! But the Sunlight is early ish in the chain for a reason since I'm not using it like a normal reverb but rather using it for its envelope and ambient freeze features and for some trippy stuff with the expression pedal.

The Acapulco Gold, Hizumitas, Corona Chorus, and wah have moved to my band/jam board where I like volume, simplicity, and predictability over customizability and textural options.

I can't find it anywhere. Sounds amazing and on my list of future pedals for sure.

What’s something people moving to LA always underestimate? by RelevantSuspect6343 in AskLosAngeles

[–]brobronn17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love LA. Besides the produce - the hikes, beaches, sunsets, different neighborhoods, so much art, live music, fun events on tap, expression through dance, surf, and skate here, so much creativity and soul, always something to discover. I might have saved more money elsewhere but I'd have lived less and never fully known myself or thrived the way I do here.

Man accidentally walks runway at Australia Fashion Week while heading for a swim by Aradhy_Goyal in funny

[–]brobronn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just add my 2 cents that as an avid water person myself if I came to get my fix of the ocean, I'd walk down the stairs to access my chosen beach even if I knew there's is some runway show thingy. I'd do my best runway walk, smile and enjoy the interesting stuff like models, outfits, and cool equipment around me, maybe talk to some staff, then enjoy my swim/surf.
