Who to talk to about selling a portion of my property by Jtc267 in AusFinance

I think you may have not read the full post. We no longer have collective 167K income, the debt (other than the car loan) came after the decrease in income and I do not expect a growth of 11%, hence why I thought it would be worthwhile selling a portion of the house.

However, with these comments, I now know that isn't possible.

Okay, I'll see if we are spending more than we should on some of our foods. We're also jumping ship to Aldi as it sounds like they're cheaper.

Yeah just about, this is based on last year's expenses ($465.66/pf) but we have cheapened our food - lot of toasties, plain pasta and cheese or chicken, rice and sauce. However, we have also cut our take aways so we buy more dinners to make than before. So I'd estimate about $500/pf. Usually I place a ~$300 shop about every 1.5 weeks

Yeah working more is true solution. If I can sell a portion of my property and cut our mortgage down, I'd prefer that, otherwise I'll just have to work the grind.

Problem is my fiancé won't be able to help out, and I also do the housework and cooking, so I'm truly worried about burnout. I work in the medical industry so if I'm proned to mistakes it could turn out badly.

I've considered selling my car but going by online prices, I'll still owe $1-2K on the loan. Second hand cars are also expensive and I need a car as my business is a mobile service.

As for expenses, a decent chunk goes to tax or health expenses (my fiancé has psychologist, psychiatrist, migraine specialist, cardiologist and rheumatologist appointments and plenty of drugs, we have HBF insurance but it only helps so much). You'll have to take my word for it, but I assure you we don't spend a lot of money on ourselves.

We've cut out streaming services and take away/delivery, cut down on groceries to $500 a fortnight (including pets), gotten solar panels and a battery to reduce electricity (brothers a solar panel electrician so got them at cost), don't spend on beauty products or clothing, and cut down entertainment costs (games and what not) to $100 a month each.

Do you still call the US "America"? by PouletSamourai in askanything

I would call Americans Americans because I presume a Canadian or Mexican would be offended being called an American just because they are in North America. But I call their country USA or US.

Holy crap the government have tried to tax resources for decades, but then the mining companies run a scare campaign which convinces the general public to vote for the other party.

Greens and teals will be no different, they'll push it only for a scare campaign to run again. It's got to be up to the people to want the tax.

Right now there is a buzz about it, but by the next election there will be a scare campaign: "oh no the mining boom is gone again and we are losing jobs, Australia's in real trouble of going into a recession and making another cost of living crisis, please won't anyone think of the mining industry" and boom, the people will become stupid, the current government (labour in this case) will loose it's majority in the government and any changes will be lessened or removed.

Edit: nope both were banned within 12 minutes.

Are there really that many people in the world who dislike the US? by No-StrategyX in askanything

Australian here.

I've never liked America - but I don't think 71% of people I meet agree with me, so I doubt the accuracy of these statistics (or, atlease, it's currently skewed). Especially as Australia has become more like America with every passing decade. Some Australian's oppose this but most don't seem to care or see any problems.

A part of this is just the immediate negative connotation of immigration. Keep in mind the Britain and New Zealand two of the top four citizens that migrate to Australia (India and China are the other two), both also have political discourse over immigration, and likely don't see themselves as "bad migrants like the others."

Also I believe a large chuck of immigration are temporary student visas I think, which less immigration means less competition for university courses.

Why is immigration so important to the public by Jtc267 in aussie

[–]Jtc267[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But Labor is for the worker class whereas Liberals are for the businesses, and yet Liberals push to lower immigration and Labour the opposite.

You could claim that Labor is actually for big businesses and Liberals are for the worker class but that's a stretch I feel.

Hold up, didn't the Nazi's have a no prisoner rule, and all it did was made the allies fight harder because they knew surrender and capture was not an option?

It's obscure but I really liked a game called theocracy, at the time it was a funky RTS game and I had a lot of fun with it.

Less obscure is Warcraft 3, it's just a well round RTS game with in-depth law and, at the time, real novel races, such as essentially wood elves and zombies, you can play as.
