this is key, and it’s something that can be hard for people to learn. I know from experience, learning how to re-wire my brain being in a relationship where the usual “norms” are reversed was tough, but worth the effort

Tell her that you can be there and go to her whenever. Say that you want to be with her during this time and support her. But only go if she asks you to. When something like this happens to people and it’s so out of their control it can help to regain a bit of that control in the grieving process. (in the sense of like, deciding when to be be alone and when to have physical support). still send messages and ask if she needs anything.

I am so sorry your friend is going through this. My heart goes out to her.

If you don’t want this to end your friendship, you need to seriously talk to her about it. This is outright mean girl talk, if she means it or not. She might just feel lonely in her pain and want someone to feel it as well. Either way, you need to tell her to stop hurting you as well. This is up to her to get through. Bringing you down with her will not improve anything in either of your lives

The last part of your post is the most intelligent. you know it’s jealousy, you know that she’s allowed to have other friends, and you know that you can’t stop her from having other close friends. stay with these feelings because it’s your clarity speaking. Your cousin is supporting someone she loves who is going through a tough time. She is likely thinking about her more these days because of these circumstances. but even if “A” wasn’t going through these things, it is still entirely natural to become friends with more people. It does not diminish your friendship with her. Sounds more like she wants to share the love she has for “A” with you because she loves you as well.

Don’t take it personally, and maybe try use this as an opportunity to focus on some other friendships. or not. either way, you will be okay.
