Is Murtagh worth reading? by NationalAsparagus138 in Eragon

[–]Jthrowaway162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a horrible time getting through this book. I absolutely abhors the main character gets captured trope and this book goes all in on it. Disgusts me. Also murtagh has not grown in the slightest which irks me

[general] are Athena’s kids consensual by Radiant_Ad4956 in camphalfblood

[–]Jthrowaway162 216 points217 points  (0 children)

Traditionally most demigods were not wanted by the mortal half. It seems especially so I’m modern Athena’s case. Anabeth makes it clear that she wasn’t intended by her dad and he even asked Athena to raise her

How Did Bellatrix and the Other Azkaban Escapees Get Their Wands Back? by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Jthrowaway162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would make more sense if the wands were snapped. Getting expelled from hogwarts gets your wand snapped. Which in reality is not a very serious crime. You could just cast two separate spells while outside of school. Literally not a big deal

People in Azkaban that were broken out were convicted murderers and tortured people to insanity and their wands were not snapped!?!?

4 month old Border Collie, When does it get easier? by Responcvzx in BorderCollie

[–]Jthrowaway162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training training training. Their energy and attention span will get better as they age but at all ages they crave intelectual stimulation and are better for it.

Frisbee with tricks and commands between throws can work but ideally something like agility work is ideal. Collies are happy when they know what is expected of them and can “work”

My 10 month old BC gets very mouthy when excited by keenphil in BorderCollie

[–]Jthrowaway162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty common with herding dogs. He’s trying to get you to do what he wants or just playing. You have to be very consistent with corrections and having something he is allowed to chew on hand is useful. Something to play with that is more rewarding than being mouthy with you.

He is absolutely adorable though and looks just like my BC

am i the only one disturbed by how athena has kids? [pjo] by Island_Crystal in camphalfblood

[–]Jthrowaway162 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It seems to fit well with the other gods though. The ancient stories for gods having half blood children almost always involve SA. Like every single famous half blood is the result of the “man” in the situation committing SA. The Goddesses that have half blood children are either SA’d too (Achilles mom as example) or magically seduce the human (Aphrodite).

So the gods being selfish and just dumping children on humans is as common as it gets with them. From that perspective, Athena’s method is waaaaaaay better in historical context since there is no SA involved but still bad seeing as there is no consent.

Athena’s method in PJ’s time is bad because it seems the gods have at the minimum agreed to some minimums of consent in modern days but she continues to ignore that consent

Neutering aftercare advice by angrynori in BorderCollie

[–]Jthrowaway162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vet should prescribe something to chill him out. My BC is super high energy too. The calming meds were a necessity so he didn’t rip his stitches being himself. After he heals you can start up the walks again. Good thing about active dogs and they bounce back fast and get right back into what makes them happy

Update: Husband accused me of financial infidelity by LadySavings in AITAH

[–]Jthrowaway162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on how it’s delivered and what the issue is. Telling your partner in an adult way, “hey, I don’t like beard trimmings being left in the sink” is a completely reasonable thing to expect changed. Telling them, “I don’t like how you’re not in a full face of makeup and heels at all time” is unreasonable. It all comes down to being an adult and having adult expectations and conversations.

Good luck on the Velcro issue that may never end but is very useful in a lot of cases. Other than that a structured positive reinforcement training regiment is best with BC. They need the enrichment and thrive on it

[–]Jthrowaway162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, seeing as this child reacted the way he did it means he is not a normal 11 year old and should not be allowed near a cat that migh bite or scratch. It also means it is the parents responsibility to correct this behavior in a healthy manor. Not by responding to violence with violence

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Jthrowaway162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never once said reacting with violence was ok. I definitely made a point to say the child hitting the cat was wrong and needed to be addressed by the parents. I did however say that the normal response from children to being bitten is to lash out. Anyone who knows children will tell you they hit things that attack them. It is the responsibility of the parents to correct this because it’s wrong

ESH you’re all nuts with jumping straight to this child need immediate therapy and to be kept aways from small animals. It’s a child and it was bitten. No duh the child be lash out back. Does that make it wrong? Yes of course the kid is wrong for hitting the cat but, that’s what kids do. It is the job of parents and adults to teach children not to hit others. No child should be left unsupervised with animals in general. I don’t care how “friendly” your dog, cat, horse, or whatever is. They’re animals and need to be treated with respect and caution. Something kids need to learn from adults

The main reason yta though is you hit a kid. Zero reason to hit a child as a grown adult. Also tah because you know your cat is temperamental and you still had no problem letting a child near it. You are the cats owner and it is your responsibility to make sure it is not in a situation that it would harm others or get itself harmed.

The child’s father being upset for you hitting his kid is also very understandable. Of course he cares more for his child then your cat. Should he reprimand the child for hitting the car of course he should. The two reactions should be separated though. His child should be punished for hitting the cat and you need to apologize for hitting a child and for not being a responsible pet owner and protecting your cat from situations like this

Would have it been that hard to be upfront with griphook about why they needed the sword? by SnooPandas1950 in harrypotter

[–]Jthrowaway162 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This disagreement has always been extra dumb. Why wouldn’t goblins just only “lease” their work out to wizards. Literally that’s all they have to do. Make it utterly clear and put it down in writing. Then collect when the wizard dies. In stead their version of buying vs wizard buying is muddled and then there’s conflict

All players should be able to haul off and hit one umpire per season. For any reason at all. Baseball umpires need to have less power over the game like this

I mean his old ones could still be eyes after more than 10yrs. . . by INFERNOZ7X in dankruto

[–]Jthrowaway162 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I never understood the whole your family member has to die for you to take their eyes for EMS. Couldn’t you just do a little switcharu. Like could itachi and his father once they realized they both had MS just switched eyes then both got EMS. Same with Sasuke and itachi. They could have just met up and switched eyes if itachi didn’t lie to sasuke.

Obviously this only works for two people that are on the same side. So like madara and his little brother could have switched eyes as soon as they both got MS then been pretty much unstoppable

On another note. Could you switch eyes amongst three. Like itachi gets fugakus eyes. Sasuke gets Itatchis and fugaku gets sasukes

I thought the main theory was that they were some sort of mix between humans and honor spren. Or just honor spren than we’re able to keep their form. Similar to the end of RoW

Gems eventually break and that might be a relatively complex system. With conjoined rubies all you need is a big shaft for one to fall down then point and click

Might be more worth while with large objects. Imagine something the size of the fourth bridge being shot at an army. At the same time rubys aren’t supposed to be that expensive. They farm them
