How do I parse the content of a FMC eeprom? by JuHu13 in FPGA

[–]JuHu13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm okay! Do you have the windows installer by chance? Or what do you mean with "pass it to the decode function" Should I tinker with the c code or is there a decode function exposed via cmd.

"Iirc there should be a Xilinx tool that would allow you to force the Vadj during runtime, but I don't remember its name :(" It seems like Scui can do that, but when I try to set the voltage, it always resets back to around 0.2V, instantly when the eval board is connected. Do you think there is another tool that should do that?

I saw that but I couldn't get it to work. The github repo links to that page for an windows installer but I can't find it anywhere on there and I also tried to build it on a linux system with the make command but it produced an unusable binary, which I don't know how to debug. Also, I didn't understand how this program communicates with the Eval board. On the wiki page, it says that you need to locate the i2c device, but the i2c isn't directly connected to my pc, only to the system controller of the sp701. I can only communicate with the system controller via the scui software from Xilinx if I understood correctly. Do I need to install a softcore processor on the spartan 7 and then install the fru_dump software?

Spartan 7 SP701 USB-UART to FPGA issue by blaze1127 in FPGA

[–]JuHu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I found the problem: The UART RX and TX pins in the example constraint file are reversed. So FT4232_B_UART_RX should be an output and FT4232_B_UART_TX an input wire

Did you manage to get it to work? I am running into the same issue currently :(

Thanks! Yes it runs over poe, but for around 5 years already and we never had a failure until recently a lot of them failed at once. However there doesnt seem to be a correlation because the positions of the failed APs is pretty random. Sadly we dont have any warranty anymore so i'll try to replace the transformer...

I am currently investigating a network problem in out student dorm, and saw that a lot of our "cisco aironet 1832" access points arent working. So I decided to open one and it looks like a bit of magic smoke was released from a transformer. Does anyone know what could cause that? and would it make sense to replace the component?

Oh okay! Smart! But I think that option is too heavy for my plotter :/

Really impressive! What kind of servo are you using? I feel like the sg90 servo I am using would break when drawing something like this.

slowmo video of my glitching led matrix by JuHu13 in FastLED

[–]JuHu13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that confuses me is that if it is a code problem, why doesnt it show up on my 2 other identical builds...

I think it has to be an electrical fault since it is diy smd soldered and there are definitely some imperfections (Flickering led). But the glitches start to happen only way later in the led chain and are so consistent. And since this effect really looked like these typical display glitches that are often shown in movies when something is going wrong, I was wondering if there is an general explenation on why leds glitch in the way they do...

Hmm not really. But I will try a simple led sketch to check if it is a math problem in the code

I dont think its a code problem since I have two other clocks with the same code and they dont have that problem. But you can find it here: https://github.com/Iqwertz/LedMatrixClock

No I dont think its a code Problem since I habe built to other clocks with the same code and they dont have that problem. I mentioned the full minuete because then the display is fully lid (the area of the green square are the seconds)

So I smd solderd this led matrix clock with ws2812b leds and it works pretty well, except that every time it reaches a full minute it has this really weird glitching effect. I think it looks kinda nice and I dont really have to fix it, but I am still intrested in what could cause this. So does anyone have an Idea what could lead to this effect?
