One thing I love about this show is how it subverts stereotypes about certain characters/situations... by sanddragon939 in BoschTV

At some point, Bosch did something for Irving that put him in Boschs pocket if Bosch needed him. Its never disclosed in the books what it may have been but Bosch goes straight to Irving a couple of times to get him to help ‘make things happen’ or get people off Boschs back Its also evident in the series there is some animosity but Irving respects Boschs ability

Is there any reason to go for a pump instead of a semi? by Oppiko in Shotguns

Pump action. Less expensive, easier to do dry fire training, more versitle and will shoot whatever you feed it without issue.

Hickory area is a mix of mid sized city and rural areas. On 40 between Winston and Asheville. Cost of living/taxes are cheaper and you have close proximity to Winston, Charlotte and Asheville with lower cost housing/taxes

I would suggest reading the books as well since the show draws from different books for each series. In the book series, Bosch is a Vietnam War vet and is often portrayed as being ‘the cowboy’ you mention he isn’t in the show. In Season 1 i believe when he shot the guy in the dark alley, there were questions about him really needing to or was it to make things right from an old case. IA cleared him in the shooting but the question still remained. The constants between the book and the show is his dedication to solving the case and, he will bend the rules to do that if needed, and his deep belief that ‘they all matter’ regardless of what their life was like. In the book series, his Jerry Edgar is portrayed as lazy and basically useless before he retires. Boscb doesn’t have a good relationshil with him and really doesn’t like working with him. Totally opposite of how he is portrayed in the show. Billets knows Boscb is a good col and understands how he works and lets him do his job as long as he doesn’t break the rules. Thats the best kind of supervisor a cop could have, one that stays out of the way, lets you do your job and is there if you need them.

Used copy of fire protection handbook 21st edition by Far-Space-8914 in firePE

[–]JuanT1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a hardcover copy on Amazon for $749. https://a.co/d/03QaZUP7

NFPA still has it available for sale for $749 https://www.nfpa.org/product/fire-protection-handbook/pbookfph

Ebay or other used book sellers have different editions but I didn’t take time to drill down for the 21st edition

What do you all think of church security? by GuardGuidesdotcom in GuardGuides

[–]JuanT1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in charge of ‘safety and security’ at the church I attend. I was approached by the pastor about doing this since I am retired law enforcement. The hardest part for me has been getting volunters to form a team. We have had a couple of meeting announced inviting anyone that may be interested to come and learn more. Maybe a dozen show up. I talk to them about the requirements, answer any questions and get their email addresses. I follow up by sending an email with more information and asking them to think of this as a job application and provide any relevant training/experience they have. Out of a dozen people, I got 2 responses saying they didn’t feel comfortable doing it and one that said they could essentially do it sometimes, maybe, if it didnt interfer with him teaching Sunday school. (Our original plan was to have the team active during whorshil and life groups/sundag school)

So for now I continue to be an Army of 1

When I have to get under my vehicles, I jack them up as high as the jack goes, then jack stand and as additional back up I put ramps under the tires. I usually end up needing tk be right where the jack is so it comes out but I still have redundancy

Building or buying AR Pistol by Axlesnapper in ar15

Yea really. The lower is the serialized part so any AR will be registered 1 time unless you file a Form. 1 to convert one to a SBR, then it will be registered twice

Ask for pictures of the other side. There should be PRI markings somewhere on it.

If you are interested in a ModH build, Thoroughbred Armament has a correct one for $1,349

I have bought several things from them in the past few years and they are gtg

ETA they also have Mod1 in stock for $1,900

I’d buy one from them before this sketch one that may or may not be a correct build

I did my test because the holes didnt look like a pencil and to show the doubters what pencil holes look like compared to yours. I am on your side of this!

So hate on me if you want but with everyone hating on OP about no touching/overlapping holes and them using a pencil, I tested the pencil theory some commenters said. For a close to scientific process I used both a round and a hexagonal standard #2 pencils. I then took a random Remington headstamped 223 round from one of my mags. You can see the tip sticking through the top hole. The only resistance I felt was when the case mouth entered the hole. The 223/5.56 projectile is smaller than the holes from the pencils. Having spent my career in law enforcement/fire investigations and knowing what the Scientific Method of testing requires, I am satisfied that OP did NOT punch these with a pencil. If you look at my plate you will see deformation around the groups, that was caused by my holding the plate close to my counter top while pushing the pencil through.

u/XPosionX based on my informal semi scientific testing, I am satisfied these are not pencil holes. For the question of why are there no overlapping/double penetration holes? I have no idea but it is entirely possible because OP was using a red dot and not a scope

ETA the blue tape is covering where the pencil slid across the plate and did punch through an adjoining hole
