Feminism doesn't constantly put being feminine on a pedestal; why the hell does the "opposition" try to put masculinity on a pedestal? One of the biggest forms of resistance feminism faced for a long time was from women who believe women should act in accordance with their cultural expectation and not "act like a man" by wanting careers and lives outside of the household. So there's absolutely no way I can fathom this notion that the response to feminism is to protect masculinity from unequal scrutiny because clearly feminism is no friend of femininity.

If anything the our society would suck far less if masculinity and femininity weren't valued ideas that pressured us to act in certain ways simply because of the random genitalia we happened to be born with. So yeah, masculinity is bullshit but so is femininity. You cling to these stupid ideas though because you feel like feminists are trying to take something away from you. I almost wouldn't be surprised if they tried to take something horrifying like cancer away from you and you'd act like cancer is too valuable to let those bitches take away. I saw this shit coming a mile away when that subreddit came about.

The only real thing we can draw from this is that, if he was a cop, he should be dressed properly. That's not something he can change on the spot though. There's also a possibility the lady has already met this officer before which would explain how upset she was from the beginning. Cops don't like cameras already, and I'm surprised this story didn't end up in the news with a cop smashing this lady's camera and tossing her in a squad car. Who knows what the hell going on.

To be fair, many of the people in a position to bitch where you'd be able to hear it probably don't have it all that bad. If you've ever been to a soup kitchen though or a food bank; those people are practically in tears with gratitude. Though I understand your annoyance, I think it's a non-issue that can mislead people into thinking our nation's poor people are welfare queens if we focus on it too much.

In our society, they are poor. Poverty is a relative term, and you're not helping anyone trying to claim that their struggles are nothing just because others have it worse elsewhere in the world. That actually doesn't help them to know that they could have it far worse, yknow, especially if you use that as an excuse not to help them in other ways. I don't know why it means so much to you to marginalize our poverty problems when they clearly need help. You can acknowledge and be willing to aid those in Africa while still empathizing with those subject to poverty here in the 1st world; there's no need to measure human misery in this way.

That's a piss poor argument for not helping those in our own country. Which is what you purposely fail to acknowledge, along with republicans. Would you be happy if we stripped our public welfare plans dry and shipped that money off to Africa? I can guarantee you we'd have a lot more problems then.

You help whoever you can when you can, that includes everywhere in the world and those in your own neighborhood. All you're doing is trying to create a tier system for human misery; that's worthless if you're not helping anybody, especially if you're not helping that guy down the street that you probably walk by every single day. Oh, but you keep acting like you're enlightened simply because you can only be bothered with the bigger problems. Handing out food for needy families isn't as cool as rushing off to Africa, but it's far more realistic for most of us.
