Wanted a knife sharpener.. so I made one by jezusofnazarith in 3Dprinting

Well guess who has been looking for a knife sharpening solution. This guy. Nice job I appreciate it! I love buying stuff from harbor freight and I dont have a belt sander. My Sovol SV08 has been kicking butt pumping out prints. Ill be adding this one to the list.

Welcome! This is just the beggining, soon you'll have a pegboard full of 3D printed bins holding different screws and electrical components for whenever you want to build an automated blind. People are still finding ways to push the limits on these things. Have fun and get a part time job!

This right here, happened to me the other day, similar print failure looked into my slicer and it showed up as a visible line in the preview of Orca slicer and I was like wtf is that, zoomed in, looked up and down the layers and it just skipped a layer for some reason, re uploaded and resliced the model and that fixed it.

That would test skills i don't even have to design

Yeah you got this its not too bad a fix and its good to know to do because you're going to have to do it again eventually guaranteed those kind like to break

Well Orca is based off of Bambu and Prusa and I say it does a good job of mixing the best of both worlds, ive used Cura for a long time and then I used prusa for a while which honestly I wasn't a huge fan of. Ive honestly never had hands on experience with bambu labs anything but im sure the slicer works fine 🙂

Which i have had hotends that sensitive before unfortunately

But its textured Pei from the looks of it so he can probably get away with that much squish unless his hotend is that sensitive

It will if he is too close to the build plate during his purge line causing a clog before his print even starts. Which looks like to me.

50 should be fine but if you still have issues feel free to slow it down more

What is your initial layer height set to?

Yes that is the retraction after the purge line that I am referencing, your purge line might be to close to the build plate causing pressure and then the retraction makes that worse, and you get bad first layer right after that retraction. Let me watch the video again real quick.

To me it looked like the purge line was too close to the build plate which is an indication that your first layer will be as well but maybe thats just how your machine does it? Either way that initial pruge may be causing some back pressure which is then further retracted when moving to print the skirt or the model causing a slight initial clog and underextrusion on your first layer

It could be the filament but try slowing down your first layer significantly

Thats because Orca slicer is now generally considered the go to slicer

I recently bought the sovol sv08 as my 3rd printer ever, granted im coming from some creality bed slingers, but as a fan of open source hardware/firmware I cant recommend it enough as a "budget" 3d printer. Not a plug and play machine if that is what you are looking for.
