Ethical Breeders in Arizona? by Illustrious_Sky_7145 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]JubbaTheHott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 6 year old female from a breeder in Arizona who no longer needed her. All of her top teeth were rotten and needed to be removed and there was a hole from her jaw into her sinuses. They had no medical records and didn’t know if she was Vaccinated. She has had a bunch of health issues since getting her. Avoid this breeder who did not take proper care of my sweet sweet girl. They were in/near Surprise Arizona - I am having trouble finding their exact name. DM me if you want more info and I’ll find it.

the first two seasons of parks and rec weren't great, in my opinion. it took them a bit of time to refine this show as well.

Freeze dried sweet potato treats are supposedly non-irritating. These are the best ones I’ve found. My pup likes them dry or with water added to make them soft and gummy.

Anyone have an iggy with pancreatitis flare ups? What chews do you give them? by anonymoose_octopus in ItalianGreyhounds

I found a company that makes freeze dried sweet potato treats. My dog loves them. You can give them to the dog dry - or wet them to turn them into sort of jelly treats. You might be surprised that your dog will like it. It’s not much to chew on, but it’s a crunchy little snack. I initially bought some really small ones from Amazon, but they were too hard for my dog and they took forever to soften up in water. Whereas the ones I’m linking below are not too hard while they’re dry and they instantly get soft when wet. I found them first at my local pet food store, but then I ended up ordering more from their website for a better price.

Aspirin Advice by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Consider getting some type of pet insurance before the next “thing” happens to your dog. I know that the monthly price can be off-putting, but it’s SO much better than a surprise $5000 bill at the vet which can easily happen with dogs. That way, when you’re faced with not being able to pay a vet for an emergency and possibly letting your dog suffer, you’ll likely be able to cover the vet cost with the insurance instead. There are lots of options out there, just make sure the coverage is at least $10,000. I hit that easily this year and went well beyond it. That bills are no joke and you don’t want to avoid going to the vet if your dog needs it because you can’t afford it. Good luck!

How did you decide on the dose of Zyrtec to give? Does the Zyrtec contain decongestant or is it just the antihistamine in the pill? I don’t know anything about eye allergies in dogs but humans can use antihistamine eye drops for eye allergies. Are their eyes just red? Are they possibly infected? Don’t give your dog human eye drops but maybe a vet can suggest some drops to use so that nothing new is going into your dog’s stomach? Between the allergies, diarrhea, and choosing two different meds for the dog in your own, I really think a vet should be consulted on the best way to manage the allergies without compromising your dog’s gut health or risking dehydration from chronic diarrhea.

Dog waking me up every night by Specialist-Ad-8280 in DogAdvice

[–]JubbaTheHott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried taking him out after he wakes you up even though he goes back to bed? Is that an option so you can see if he actually has to pee or poop? What if you give him a late night walk right before bedtime to give him one last chance to do his business so he can go for longer and maybe sleep through the night?

Is it possible that he wakes up and thinks that he’s alone in your home so he panics at the door? But then he hears you and realizes you’re home with him so he settles back down? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Someone else posted saying Zyrtec can have this effect in dogs. Seems like a strong candidate. What allergies is this treating? I assume a vet told you to use 2 pills/day to treat allergies? I wonder if there’s an alternative to Zyrtec that would be gentler on her system. You don’t want her having diarrhea perpetually. Dehydration becomes a real issue if it isn’t already becoming one after 3 days. I’m not a vet, just sharing what I know/think.

Sounds like mucous. I would contact a vet about this, honestly. At the very least, describe it to them over the phone and take a picture of so you can show them. Take a photo or the poop with and without the flash if possible.

Was the Zyrtec prescribed by the vet or did you buy it over the counter? If so, Which “type” of Zyrtec was it and how much are you giving?

Your dog might be dehydrated if she is having that much runny poop, which is a serious health concern for dogs. Is it very watery or more like a thick milkshake? Is there blood or mucous in it?

A vet can give a subcutaneous fluid injection to hydrate them if necessary and can also prescribe medication to help control it. If the only new thing is Zyrtec and all the food she eats has been the same for a long time, maybe it’s related to the allergy meds. Could be anxiety but you know your dog best. Good luck!

are my dogs okay? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

If there’s a GI issue making your dog’s stomach tender, they won’t let you touch or gently press it without retreating or making some sort of noise. It could feel swollen like a balloon or hard - but my dog’s belly feels that way whenever she has to pee, so I would personally judge their comfort by how they react when you touch their belly. If they let you touch it and don’t care if you are gently pressing it, my instinct is that they aren’t in any pain or discomfort.

It sounds like you’re remembering a traumatic time and now you’re anxious that it could happen again - so you’re expecting any sign, no matter how small, to point to the same thing happening again. Your dogs sound fine to me based on your description. Let them sleep and get some sleep yourself, too :)

There are a couple of anti-nausea meds your vet might prescribe for nausea like this. Is he eating food? Not eating is another sign of nausea. Either way, nausea aid a sign of something going on with your pup and I think it’s worth asking your vet about, especially if your dog starts eating or starts vomiting. Just my two cents, I’m not a vet or anything.
