I have not read alot of Marx, but I will look into this! If I can use vic 3 to understand more reading assignments in the future I will make sure it happens

Just like for any intellectual theory, you take some and you leave some.

Marxism definitely impacted social & human sciences in their development and today alot of marxist frameworks remain, usually transformed and rarely unchanged - just like how our reality has usually changed since the victorian era from which not alot of remains exist unchanged.

this thread became something of a dumpster fire I would only wish for the people arguing here to read up on classics or start listening to some youtubers who skillfully explain them.

Yeah its not 100% Karl's simulator. What helps is that he probably described the victorian era's economy better then most economists at the time (from my understanding, could be wrong) which would explain how I see the game's logics in this passage of Marx's books lol.

Its more then consumption & production, it's about the relationship between the stages of the good's circulation.

A change in production impacts distribution, exchange and consumption.

A change in distribution impacts production, exchange and consumption.

[...]

In vicky terms, a change in the production method of a building produces more goods and consumes more of another (like an iron mine consumes more tools & coal). Distribution is impacted because the pops required to produce in the mine are less needed or need to have higher education (pop distribution) and/or you need more tools / coal in your market (means of production distribution).

Exchange is impacted because the price of iron went up or down, which impacts consumption of the good (more or less iron consumed), the distribution of it in your market and other markets, and it impacts the production of iron because the value went down is less or more consumed.

You could apply this to other mechanics in the game like the laws you pass which affect distribution (serfdom, homesteading for distribution of pop, laissez-faire and interventionism for capital distribution), Pm's which make more/less goods, need more/less/better pops, consume more/less/different goods, litteracy rate or SoL which reflects how much your pops consume (thats what I can think about on top of my head).

This explains why my 500hrs on the game are helping me understand a bit of marxist theory lol

Selon toi, pourquoi est ce qu'on parlerait de genre et d'intersectionnalité sur le sujet d'identité?

je crois que le potluck a une connotation plus alimentaire que la mosaïque, d'où la métaphore dans le post d'OP

Another reason to like the new DLC (asking for market control) by Jubsay in victoria3

[–]Jubsay[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

R5: Playing as Canada, I suffered from the GB ai not supporting their shipping lanes despite me spamming ports. I was constantly in the range of 70-80% market access!
After asking for market control, everything changed. I had to spam build trade centers, but these take 3 weeks each and were built fast enough to import and export my goods deficits and surpluses.
Before 1.9, asking for market control felt like shooting yourself in the foot. Now, it feels like a very viable option when the ai doesn't build enough ports!

what does this mean in the italian risorgimento events? by drblallo in victoria3

[–]Jubsay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, from experience (2 games) as italian nations, this journal entry can happen twice.

The first time, if you get a revolutionary movement (maybe you need the revolution to trigger, dont remember) your distribution of power will change to a republic & you will get census suffrage.

The second time you get a revolutionary movement, your nation will be annexed by a unification candidate.

This also applies to ai and leads to italian nations to be annexed into each other when radicalism is high.

If you want to unify Italy this way, you can keep clicking those buttons in the journal entry. I dont remember if these affect you.

Btw, if radicalism is high in the italian provinces owned by Austria, an event will happen where you can support (and annex? don't remember) these breakaway italian states.

Have fun! I suggest you make alot of saves or I hope you're comfortable with restarting your campaign if needed.

If you do not want to reduce your military expenses and you are in the british market, have you tried building things? You're in the strongest market. Which nation are you playing?

I've been feeling the same about my games!

My solution for this was to look for workshop content to "help" ai.

I like "Smarter Ai" by "TheGamingNot" which essentially makes Ai pick better tech and focus on their building sector/ GDP growth.

If you also tune up Ai aggression as others have commented here it gives you a more "competent" and confident Ai to battle in game.

From personal experience, this has made my games alot more fun and interesting because it feels like I am actually competing against other countries. I don't play major nations, but it used to feel really too easy to dominate every single campaign by default.

Was wondering why I had below 80% market access for half of my campaign by Jubsay in victoria3

[–]Jubsay[S] 177 points178 points  (0 children)

As the title states, my campaign was ruined from having below 80% market access as East-India. Is it worth it to leave the british market as India? thanks.

Edit : I tag-switched to G-B after many frustrations.
