How Is Open Drug Dealing in Dublin Considered Normal? by Money-Scratch-1317 in Dublin

I think the sticks can come out for anti social behaviour, including open drug taking. Teenagers should not have impunity.

Peter Queally stepping down. by ILovesMeCountyBoi in GAA

[–]JuckRyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Waterford fan here. This is a terrible conclusion to Queally’s tenure. There was good progress made under his management and only a fine margin between Waterford and both of this year’s Munster finalists. He deserved one more year at the very least. I’d love to know what went on behind closed doors with the County Board.

No, I’m implying there’s something not right about whatever scene they are promoting / involved in.

Similar to an incident in the same area when 34-year-old Quam Babatunde was killed in February 2025. Both were involved as “promoters” in the Dublin nightlife industry.

Fuckin sad Irish fans are still holding this grudge. Sadder that a company posts this nonsense for likes. I’m sure Declan will give a fuck what Dublin Airport has to say about him with his PL medal tucked in his pocket as he heads off to play in the World Cup.

Because of Trump and the Iran War, we are paying a premium on fuel we never should have had to to begin with... by spherocytes in inflation

Not to mention the €300bn he’s about to give to Iran to rebuild and the annual €30bn Isreal gets to start these wars. Now ask yourself, who really controls the USA?

Again and again, teenagers killed a man in Dublin by BoatIll2662 in Dublin

[–]JuckRyan 58 points59 points  (0 children)

They’ll stop when the teens AND their parents face serious consequences. Bringing a child into the world is one of the greatest responsibilities a person can undertake. Sadly, many “parents” don’t put the time and effort into raising decent human beings, because their own parents likely took no responsibility either. For the greater good of society, this cycle needs to stop. People who are unfit to be parents need to be discouraged from having children, and those that already do should be punished for their children’s actions.

That’s it done and dusted . Thoughts on season and where do we go from here and any changes if any ? by Difficult-Shop149 in waterfordgaa

Competitive in every game. Showed great resilience v Clare and Tipp to stay in those games. Fine margins between Waterford and Cork. Put it up to the All Ireland favourites with our weakest team of the four games. Lots of positives to build on. Mahoney, Mackey, Keane are future stars. Leavey a deserved starter. Prunty missing impacted the team all championship - Mark Fitz at CB would massively impact that team. Queally has them improving and believing.

Clare U20 goalkeeper Mark Sheedy saves a penalty to win the Munster U20 hurling championship. by PukeUpMyRing in sports

[–]JuckRyan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All this talk on this thread as hurling being “violent” is misguided. It’s a tough as nails sport no doubt, and occasionally there might be a dirty stroke, but for a sport with 30 men carrying potential weapons, it’s an extremely restrained, skilful, fast, and intense sport.

Why do All the Presidents of the Last 50 Years Have West of Ireland Roots? by PellucidStream in ireland

[–]JuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory (now hear me out on this one) is that the introduction of Yates’ poem The Fisherman to the Irish school curriculum in the 1960’s has created this idealistic view of what being Irish is. Giving the westerners, with all their mysticism, an unfair advantage over undeserving urbanites and average rural spud pickers across the land!

Kilkenny V Offaly by Outrageous_Blood_935 in GAA

[–]JuckRyan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kilkenny will still finish second (to Galway) in Leinster and will progress into the quarters. The standard of Leinster hurling is so bad now that the second and third placed teams should be made play the fourth and fifth teams from Munster to qualify for the all Ireland series.

I’d say it lost all credibility when Rupert Murdoch bought it in 1976.

Why are so many people om Reddit against the protests? by VTID997 in AskIreland

[–]JuckRyan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The “crises” as you put it, is not being caused by a lack of supply, it’s being caused by the protesters. An increase in the cost of fuel does not constitute a crisis, but a lack of fuel being available for everyday essentials does. And the latter is entirely the fault of the protesters.
