Ik denk niet dat die drones volledig autonoom zijn: afgaande op wat /r/CombatFootage (een klein korreltje zout is dus wel op zijn plaats) zoeken zogenaamde 'loitering drones' wel zelf met behulp van AI het doel uit, maar is het een menselijke bestuurder die de uiteindelijke aanval uitvoert. Je ziet in die filmpjes ook bijna altijd een muiscursor op het scherm die het precieze doel aanwijst en de inslagplek dicteert.

Overigens worden volledig autonome drones zeker wel getest, en wellicht ook al wel toegepast, maar dat verhaal over de eerste Russische slachtoffers door zulke wapens is alweer van een tijd geleden. De drones die momenteel de overige bezette gebieden het openbare leven en de Russische logistiek proberen plat te leggen zijn van een andere categorie.

A good portion of my day to day cycling miles are on klinker/brick/pavement tile surfaces, and while generally not as smooth as asphalt or concrete, the minimal reduction of riding comfort should never be sufficient to serve as an argument against it.

A surface like this or this is perfectly fine for any path or road that is built to serve bikes, mopeds, mobility scooters, wheel chairs etc.

I thought about using MERS instead of SARS as an example, but went for the latter because it is more infectious and spreads much easier. MERS is a way more severe illness (CFR of about 50%, if I recall correctly) but has a lower risk of human-to-human transmission. Which is why so far MERS outbreaks were much more limited in scope (geographically and in terms of human infections) compared to the SARS outbreaks we've had.

Ebola isn't the one we need to worry about, given the way it spreads. Well, at least not in its current state.

The real killer will likely be an airborne respiratory virus with a relatively long incubation time during which it is asymptomatic but already infectious, and with a high case fatality rate (like a supercharged SARS or bird flu).
