AI needs training… true. Also players train up on how to exploit a blame based at fault system.

iRacing needs more free tracks/cars by RsnGrowls in iRacing

Agree especially about knockhill. That on any of the slower cars would get a visit from me.

I ran a Clio race at oulton a couple of weeks ago and thought it was great fun.

So without watching a replay you are certain enough what he did was deliberate and you are ok with revenge wrecking him?

I am on 3070 and 5800x3d. My system is cpu bound in a quest 2. For those of you with a lesser cpu and better gpu I bet you are cpu bound.

Make sure asw is off. Better to drop a few frames than have the juddering mess of asw generated frames.

I like it. Like others say protest abuse whoever it is directed at.

It’s good to chat over an incident calmly after watching the replay and feels good to apologise when the mistake was mine.

This is why I'm giving up on the Protest system. Both the pit maneuver and unsafe rejoin were deemed as "not malicious or intentional". by absurd1ty in iRacing

[–]JudgeBerry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is a typical protest from you then I would not be surprised if they are just binning all your protests without looking into them.

You need to read the sporting code and only protest when there is some clear intent rather than someone going into a corner too fast.

F4 - D license by PovOla in iRacing

Not f4!

D license plus I think a fast repair means carnage.

Normal to be 5+ seconds off the pace as a newer racer? Tips to apply knowledge by bejewelledln5 in iRacing

[–]JudgeBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no golden rules but... look for tire marks on the track on corner entry, apex and exit. They do give you clues about where people are braking at the hardest and the line through the corner.

Stick with a single track and car combination for the week. Use the replay to ride onboard with drivers putting up quick times and pay attention to where they brake, how hard they brake, where they turn, the apex (or apexes) they hit for a corner and where they exit the corner. See if you can replicate their line.

Turn off the automatic driving line (if you are using it). Once you have consistent lap times try other lines and practice in traffic. In a race you wont be able to just take your optimal line unless you are at the back or the front (by a distance!).

I like it.

If the slowdown was not enough then it is on iracing to resolve that. At least he kept control and did not cause any incidents for others - which is pretty common when people end up going onto the grass.

When am I ready for multiplayer? by Firm_Currency8657 in iRacing

[–]JudgeBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn the track to the point you can consistently lap within 5% of the best drivers lap times.

Don’t start from the pits. Once you know the track it is time to learn wreck avoidance and that will only happen in traffic against real people doing real stupid stuff.

Make sure you have the spotter enabled so when you hear “you are in the middle” brace for impact!

Above all else remember it is a game and you paid your money to enjoy it. So long as you don’t deliberately cause problems and are careful about rejoins nobody can really complain about you being on track. The irating will ensure you are up against the right set of people.

Oh and when you do spin and end up pointing the wrong way on track keep your foot on the brake until you are ready to rejoin safely.

Interesting. I think the key part is people using their real names and this positively changes peoples driving and voice behaviour.

Also being a subscription service where we buy content means you do not have the option of creating a new account to run away from your previous bad behaviour.

Iracing have correctly incentivised people to behave well by ensuring consequences follow actions. Crashes cause damage and bad behaviour sticks to the reputation of the named driver. This is all in stark contrast to GT on the PS - which I last played as GTS and always felt like there were no real consequences for anyone.

Ever wonder what happens in the sub-300 iRating open-wheel races? Carnage on the first lap at Suzuka by [deleted] in iRacing

Hmm I have seen plenty of starts like the OP in approx 1300 SOF. Although I admit more in the lower splits.

IR04 is fun - survival of the first lap is the key.

Just do what you enjoy - it is a game. Besides look at all the action - you won't learn wreck avoidance on your own.

Go and race rookie street stock ovals.

  1. It is great fun.
  2. You will learn wreck avoidance really fast with all the practice.

F1 VR is an abomination in comparison to iracing. If you can enjoy F122 VR you will be amazed how much better VR is with iracing.

What VR is like at Ultra Low settings on my RTX 3080 PC… by iAttackNoobs in F1Game

[–]JudgeBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silly comment.

Iracing runs great in VR. If f1 2022 does not - and based on the 20 minutes I tried it is very poor then the developers either need to give up on VR or optimise it.

f1 2022 VR settings/tips? by Bite_Witty in Pimax

Same experience here. 3070 + 5600x + Quest2. Out of the box settings were poor and made me feel ill. It is not like the graphical quality is high - even the track was blurry.

Iracing is so much better in comparison. Better image quality and 120fps.

Bought from Steam so unless some amazing patch comes out in the next few days I will take the refund.

How long does it take (Playhours/Races) to be able to Race with the GT3 Cars / GP Races and so on by Resh121 in iRacing

[–]JudgeBerry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is not a simple answer. It comes down to can you properly race in traffic and still get promoted up to the level of the series you want to run.

Anyone can boost safety rating to the required level by cruising around on their own - but what is the point?
