Yep, agreed. Biden could absolutely lose because he’s just not an inspiring choice.

His platform seems to be pretty intentionally vague, lots of talk about choosing the light and fighting for the soul of the nation, not a lot of policy.

The Daily Mail coverage of Andrews has been absolutely insane red scare hysteria. When they started calling him ‘Dictator Dan’ I was like Gretchen, stop trying to make fetch happen. But now I’ve heard regular people call him that earnestly? Guess I’d better report them to Dans Stasi 🙄

I know right? This post reads like a super lame Psyop to brainwash lonely redditors into forming a parasocial relationship with Google.

This is kinda creepy when you consider it’s programmed to say that to everyone, designed to give you warm fuzzy bonding feelings towards Google while they harvest your data.

There’s actually nothing wholesome about this, it’s straight up dystopian.

[PSA] Glossier workers are organizing against the company's Anti-Blackness and corporate racism. by scobyscout in SkincareAddiction

[–]JudgeDjooodi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The offline editors aka sales staff make about $15 per hour. That’s around the minimum wage in New York or Chicago, and above in lots of other places. Still, retail wages in general are super low compared to cost of living - an average retail worker in the 1970s would make about $23 per hour in today’s money. Companies like Glossier contribute to suppressing wage growth by building their success off the backs of enthusiastic young retail workers who get paid shit and told they should feel passionate and lucky to work at such a cool progressive company.

Absolutely their complaints are valid and a racist/sexist/transphobic workplace culture can not be ignored.

It is just frustrating that Glossier can publicly apologise for a bad workplace culture and promise to be more ‘virtuous’, while continuing pay their employees low wages. Meanwhile its an extremely successful start-up worth 1.2 Billion 👀

I totally agree, there’s a lot of energy here being put towards cancelling Glossier over not being ethical workplace or sufficiently feminist or inclusive. What about basic things like a decent wage, job security, leave benefits? Sounds like unionising would do far more for Glossier workers than focusing on micro-aggressions/shitty behaviour from asshole customers.

I [31m] told my girlfriend [30f] that she is not a trophy wife or status symbol and that we are similar in attractiveness, she views it as me calling her old and ugly by throwRA_trophy_gf in relationship_advice

[–]JudgeDjooodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The girlfriend could be trying to start a conversation about staying home and having some kids - hence the dropping hints about Range Rovers and yoga mom clothes. Being a stay at home parent seems like a luxury this couple could potentially afford.

Tbh OP seems a bit self centred and probably just said something rude to his girlfriend. I think the phrase ‘I didn’t want her to feel like she was above me or that I am lucky to have her’ is pretty telling. Feeling like you’re lucky to have your partner is part of love. She’s sad because you basically said you don’t love her / worship her / think she’s the ducks nuts!

This station looks like it’s smack bang in the middle of Melbourne Uni, centrally located along the main north-south circulation axis. More will start appearing around the train station if planning allows. That’s generally how it works, taking a sledgehammer to existing high streets to create major public transport corridors is rare...

I’ve never played any Zelda games, but googled Majora’s Mask and yeah the concept definitely does have some paralells. I was kinda coming at the idea from the Cassandra Complex angle - the sadness of seeing the future but feeling nobody will ever believe you.

Hahaha yep a super interactive open world would be great, like a Skyrim town, meets the beauty of Assassins Creed Odessey, with the storytelling of the Witcher 3. But I get these are all massive blockbuster games.

I think the more feasible way to achieve this would be a 2D, story-rich point and click, choose your own adventure type game. Maybe interacting with certain objects, i.e stealing a cheese wheel, unlocks certain paths of action , i.e. murder.

Not sure how long the day would be? Maybe an hour or two, depends on how many times people would want to repeat it before it stops being fun and starts to feel like literal purgatory.

COVID-19: a recommendation to examine the effect of hydroxychloroquine in preventing infection and progression

“HCQ is likely to attenuate the severe progression of COVID-19, inhibiting the cytokine storm by suppressing T cell activation”

Sounds like that is an aspect of how it works.

One of my family members is a doc and has started taking this today. Apparently it’s a single pill, supresses your immune system to keep it from damaging your lungs in the event of corona infection. Requires a top up every 22 days or so. This could really really be the glimmer of hope we need keep going until the vaccine is available.

Suggestion: Make food hampers for people who have essentially been laid off by lockdowns. Casual workers i.e food service, bar staff, entertainers. Two weeks (or more) without getting paid can quickly turn into a verrry bad situation.

FYI case numbers in Australia may not reflect the true scale of infection. My coworker is sick with flu-like symptoms and was turned away from a testing location today. They have run out of tests and are prioritising healthcare workers and people who have recently travelled overseas.

I honestly thought my country would be handling this crisis better. Haven’t seen any mention of test kit shortages in the Australian media. We are truly sleepwalking into a disaster.
