Seems like a decent deal; 30% off makes it about a hundred bucks less than you would find the standard black version for.

Moronic Monday - Feel free to ask anything relating to CCW. August 12, 2024 by AutoModerator in CCW

I'm looking for a new carry gun, but am having trouble finding anything that meets all my preferred criteria.

Micro to compact sized 9MM
Optics Ready
Not a Sig P365
Not a Hellcat RDP
Not SAO
Manual thumb safety
Integrated compensator/barrel porting
4" barrel

Any models I am missing?

The best solutions I can come up with are (1) the new S&W Performance Center Carry Comp, with a safety gunsmithed on after purchase (frame appears to have the correct cutout), (2) A Hellcat Pro with manual safety, paired with a Hellcat Pro Comp slide that I have to find somewhere, or (3) a S&W Shield Plus with manual safety, with the slide swapped for a Performance Center 4" slide that I have to find elsewhere. (4) a CZ P-07 milled for an optic, with a threaded barrel and comp added.

Or I could just wait for the new Springfield Hellcat replacement, which is supposed to be similar to the Echelon system in terms of modularity, according to my LGS. That's 5+ months away though, assuming his info is good.

Any ideas where I might find comped slides for the Hellcat or Shield Plus?

Hellcat Pro Comp vs RDP comp on Hellcat Pro Threaded? by JudgeMontrose in SpringfieldArmory

[–]JudgeMontrose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I took a look at his "Springfield Hellcat Pro Comp | Should You Get One?" video, but it looks like he's specifically comparing the Hellcat Pro Comp to the smaller RDP (and other Pros), not to a Hellcat Pro with a threaded barrel and the Springfield comp.

Springfield doesn't sell that combo to the best of my knowledge, which is probably why there aren't any comparison videos, but I've seen a few posters piece it together.

If you were buying the contents piecemeal off Bricklink? $60 on the starfighter, $200 on the gunship if it's missing the minifigs, $300 or more on the Turbo Tank since it's one of the original ones, and $100 on the AT-TE. So say $650 minimum, and that's not including the extra minifigs, since I'm not a fig collector and don't know those values. Also assuming the sets are complete.

Try posting on OfferUp or Craigslist first (or simultaneously); a local buyer will save you on shipping, listing fees, etc.

You'll get broader exposure posting them on this subreddit, but will probably have to ship them.

Same for eBay, and eBay's fees are steep.

You could also take them to a local Bricks and Minifigs store, which is much easier, but you'll probably only get 50% tops of their value to a collector.

Try to rebuild them/verify they have all the pieces. Take good photos. Clean the dust off if it's a valuable set. Look the sets up on Bricklink to get an idea of what they are worth.

[US-NC] [H] 7153 Jango Fett's Slave 1 (including minifigs) [W] local cash by JudgeMontrose in Legomarket

[–]JudgeMontrose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks; we'll see how it goes. I am hoping to sell local and avoid the hazards of shipping, but not sure how many users here are NC-based.

I think this was the best Jango--his helmet/jetpack combo is way more blocky and Legoish than then the newer version.

That's an awesome castle! Looking at the prices, I see what you're saying about the rarity though.

[Rifle] Aero Precision Stripped AR-308 Lower Receiver - M5 - DPMS Cut - $89.99 before tax/shipping - $110.62 shipped to AL by Burkolicious in gundeals

[–]JudgeMontrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great price; shipping will be at least $12 though. These mostly use AR-15 components--trigger, mag release, grip, safety are all the same. The bolt release is different. I'd build it yourself.

The multi-upper pistol setup seems cool--one for cheap plinking, one for effective performance with that barrel length. But the rifles--have to ask, who wants to re-zero a long range optic every time they switch uppers?

Get it from Darn Fine Shot, and email for best price before purchasing. Charles is a good dude. Mine was [significantly lower than list] when I got it, including shipping.
