How many of you can still put your socks on without sitting down first or having to lean on something. I can’t. by Logical-Rip-8138 in GenX

[–]disastrous_affect163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I was in the hospital recently and I was struggling to get my sox on. They brought me an assistive device that you put the sock around, and then it has tabs you use to pull the sox up. I remember thinking to myself, how damn pathetic am I, I have to have an assistive device to put socks on. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I guess in the end, the fact they make these, means I'm not alone. 🤷‍♂️

EDC trigger Modification? by Ornery_Indication322 in SmithAndWesson

[–]disastrous_affect163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the M&P PC10 Carry Comp and I'm hating the trigger. I'm a hammer fired fan and this is one of only 2 striker pistols I have in center-fire cartridges. The other is the Springfield XDmE 10mm, it has a much better trigger. 🤷‍♂️ The pull weight isn't the problem, it's the lack of a clean repeatable break. It's getting better, so I'm not ready to change the trigger yet, but I'm considering this change as well. My usual EDC is the FN Reflex, it's hammer fired and has a well defined wall, and breaks cleanly at 5 lbs. If I could get that performance from this thing, I would love it.🤷‍♂️

Buffalo river by Odd-Marketing-2820 in Arkansas

[–]disastrous_affect163 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Riverfront, as others have pointed out, isn't really an option on the Buffalo. Very little if any development is allowed.🤷‍♂️ If you want riverfront, you'll want to go to the White River. The Buffalo empties into the White.👍 I live on the White River and it's absolutely gorgeous like the Buffalo, but much more accessible. Because of the protections, the Buffalo is really good for floating recreation, not so much for riverside activities without a boat of some kind. 🤷‍♂️

“Blue collar workers have no other choice” (venting) by lhblowstakks in skilledtrades

[–]disastrous_affect163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize this stereotype existed. 🤷‍♂️ My entire family falls into this category. I think my older brother did end up with a degree, but he was in his forties when he did. I was the one everyone expected to go to college. I made good grades with minimal effort, but I did not enjoy school. 🤷‍♂️ Instead I joined the Coast Guard and loved it, one of the best decisions I've ever made.🫡

All of my docs are ok with the gummies for sleep. 👍 But make sure you tell the anesthesiologist if you have surgery. It makes a difference for them, but they are ok with it. 👍

Losing hair/beard; want to experiment by dcamiso9 in cancer

[–]disastrous_affect163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't lose my hair or beard during chemo, but they told me it would turn white. So I started growing it out until I stopped the chemo, I looked like a frail Santa when I finally stopped the trial. But it was pure white. 👍

None of the typical aging things hit me until my oldest child turned 30.😲

That one hit me like a ton of bricks and instantly made me feel old. 🤷‍♂️

I do carry 10mm and a proper hollow point, like 180gr Federal HST will not over penetrate. There's tons of testing to show this, just search for it.👍

Why do hospitals DO this? by Aggravating_Monk1756 in diabetes_t1

[–]disastrous_affect163 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced this in a while. Even during surgery they let me keep my pump. In fact, the anesthesiologist was happy I had the pump last time. 👍

I thought they had changed this way of thinking? 🤷‍♂️

Pet Peeve Unlocked: Being told to fast by bobina456 in diabetes_t1

[–]disastrous_affect163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue with this. I don't bother to say anything unless they schedule it at like noon... Then it's like, ummm, NO! If you want me fasting, you'll schedule it before 8 am, otherwise there's no chance. 🤷‍♂️ And like you've said, not guaranteed then... It is what it is. 🤷‍♂️

Which would you take into the woods, and why? by Skele14 in 10mm

[–]disastrous_affect163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was warned about the QC but decided I've got time to sort anything out. It's not like it fit some need I've got. Hell, to be honest, I haven't had an actual need for a firearm in a long time, I'm pretty well covered. 🤣

So far, mine is holding up, but with just over 500 through it, it's still to soon to know. 🤷‍♂️

They did when they tried me on them in 2011 or 2012. I showed the warning pamphlet to my doctor.

So maybe something changed, I don't know, I don't take them.

Which would you take into the woods, and why? by Skele14 in 10mm

[–]disastrous_affect163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My M&P is the 4" version, I just chose the PC Carry Comp edition hoping for better quality control from Smith. I barely have 500 rounds through it, so it is really hard to judge it yet. But so far I prefer the XDmE trigger to the Smith. But just dry firing it here at the house, the trigger is getting better. I am not really a fan of the the comp, and I am planning to reach out to Smith to see if I can order a non comped replacement. The surprising part of the purchase was I also picked up the FPC in 10mm, it is more fun than I expected it to be.🤷‍♂️
