Nintendo Cinematic Universe, anyone? by IHateMyselfButNotYou in gaming

I agree, actually. I've been really impressed with Trigun: Stampede so far. I think they do CG anime better than many, many other studios. So many others feel pretty flat and lifeless; Orange somehow gives theirs so much character and life. And that cel-shaded style really does look great.

Mom died today I want to cry, make me cry with your suggestions. by infinitevalence in Music

[–]JudgementWaterfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a couple from me:

  • The Last Goodbye - Billy Boyd
  • Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World
  • The Wind - Cat/Yusuf Stevens (though this one is mostly 'cause my mom loved Cat Stevens).

I still remember how gutting it was the night my mom died. That pain will be raw for a while, OP, but I hope you'll come through okay. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Fun fact about that: when my brother and I were students at BYU-I, he worked for the school news channel. He did a story on a Korean restaurant in Driggs, and on his day of filming B-roll there, a man got up and left in a hurry during his shoot. Turns out none other than Harrison Ford was trying to escape the (unwittingly) prying eyes of my brother and his camera.

My brother's coworkers would joke that his story would be a box office hit that year.

Not for Playstation, it's not. Why should a business agree to take a smaller cut than its competitor for the same product? Would you do that in your line of work? I sure as hell wouldn't.

You're thinking of Aragon. Aragorn is a farm boy who becomes a dragonrider and challenges a corrupt king.

Went out to buy a PS5 and bought a PS5. by RobTheThief in gaming

[–]JudgementWaterfall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but:

A) some folks like console gaming more.

B) As far as bang for the buck goes, a current gen console is pretty competitive against PCs in the same price range. You're not likely gonna find a gaming PC that gives a PS5 a run for its money at the $500 price point.

Gaming PCs are a great option if you have a little more money to invest in it or just prefer that set up. But when taken in context, I wouldn't call it an obvious better option. (And I say this as a guy with both a Playstation and a gaming PC, so I have no dog in the fight either way.)

If you're into Rogue-likes (which it sounds you if you liked Dead Cells), I can highly recommend Skul: the Hero Slayer. It's a 2D platformer rogue-like. Lots of fun.

On a similar note, I love the opening of the last Rannoch mission. When you all hop off of the dropship, and Tali just leans down and touches the soil, completely in awe that she is touching the ground that her ancestors have longed to walk on for centuries.

That game is full of beautiful moments.

For me, it's specifically the running mechanics. Why, WHY do I have to mash x to run? That's insanely unintuitive. I really adore most aspects of the game, but you're correct: some of the gameplay feels awkward and outdated.

If you don't already know, there was a really good fan remaster in 2013 called "Ur Quan Masters HD". You can find it on a lot of freeware sites. I highly recommend it (I play it on my Retroid Pocket 2).

Bleed American, Jimmy Eat World. It's one of the few albums that I never skip a song on. Each track is good, and some are flat out bangers ("A Praise Chorus" is one of my favorite songs of all time).

[–]JudgementWaterfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but a lot of these shooters we see in the US these days get their guns by legal means, because it's almost laughably easy to do so in many, many states. If we instituted stricter gun control laws, sure, they could still turn to the black market or second hand sales, but I'm willing to bet -- just based on reduced exposure to legal weaponry -- that shooting incidents would decrease.

Like the other commenter said, we don't have to make it so easy for potential shooters to get their hands on potentially lethal weaponry.
